Sorry for the very late thread revival, but ive only just come back on after not using the site for a few years & seen your post!

To answer your question, The ST200's handle like a dream compared to standard mondeos, once you get used to one the standard ones feel like a plate of jelly.

Ive moved on a bit since then, The ST220's are also extremely nice and planted, the ST TDCI uses standard mondeo MK3 suspension which again feels like a plate of jelly...

Well that was a late thread revival!:D
Just to let you know that I still have the Mondy and it is just about to turn 120K miles:beer:
Basically all the front suspension (lower wishbones, drop links, coils and shocks) have been changed and the car is running sweet.
I just have to attend to the rear dampers now, because they are original and have started to make a lot of noise, and are springing about a lot on rebound. Still on the original clutch, has had two cambelt/water pump changes.
The best thing of all is when mates look under the bonnet (particularly when they own 3 year old cars), and look a bit sick, because of how clean it is.

It's just cheap parts. Saab, Vauxhalls, Ford's and Renaults are the most common for springs snapping.

We've had 4 Renaults so far and not one of them has had broken springs. Sure, I had to break them once myself (with an angle grinder - and the spring still compressed on the strut) but never suffered a natural break yet.

We also have a ford.. 60k on the clock at the time when it was found to have broken springs - FORD: F***ed Over Repair Despair.

I had an 81 Renault, the springs lasted longer than the bodywork.

I still got a spare decompressed spring in my shed. Last time I looked at it there was no sign of rust on it.
