Do not apply for any more credit for 12 months, and then try again.
Nah, 1st direct are actually lenient on searches. I have 1000's and I mean that (i.e. more than 1300) and they never mentioned that with me, they said it was purely cos I failed their score but nothing adverse from CRA's - I mentioned the searches and she actually said they aren't important because they look into your 'actual' credit agreements and check monthly so if they noticed too many live accounts they would reduce any borrowing accordingly.
TBH they seem clued up which is maybe part of the appeal to them..... sexy firrst direct :grouphug:2010 - year of the troll

This time write in and try appealing using your HSBC as back-up and try to mention the fact you run your hsbc account excellently and see what they say - they only stick to no if it was a credit score decline (i.e. you dont meet their min requirements)
sorry to hear they said no again mate.....
When I said 'Computer seas no', I didn't mean that their computer literally said no due to internal scoring. :rotfl: I was refused due to information received from the CRA (Credit Scoring). No point in appealing. I have 33 searches over the last year (well 8 months as I'm 18 and 8 months), and 16 over the last 3 months, so I definitely need a year off searches. Especially as I'll be applying for a student account this time next year.
Thanks for all the replies.0 -

Hi Effect,
I thought credit score and CRA declines were different?
I thought
Score = Time at address, Salary, Home-owner, Marital status etc
CRA = Adverse information received. ( Defaults, Late payments, CCJ etc )
Can someone please clarify.........Bank Accounts - Barlcays Premier[/B] - £1000 o/d, HSBC - £200 o/d- First Direct - £500
Credit Cards - Barclaycard £2000 - Silver Card £1300 - Flybe £7500 - HSBC £1000 - First Direct £2500 First Direct Gold £3000
6 credit accounts closed in 2010!
Official SOS Club number 001 - Dry until 01.07.100 -
It should say on the letter if there was any derogatory information found during the search. When I applied for FD a few years back and got turned down this sentence was at the end of the letter0

The letter said 'We use a scoring criteria and unfortunately you did not meet the required criteria for acceptance...''0

Hi
When you applied for the first direct current account you can apply for the credit card within the same application.
Just wanted to know does this result in 2 or one credit searches? has any one checked their credit report?0 -

This means you failed their score. If it was CRA based it would say 'due to adverse data obtained from the credit agency listed below' or words to that effect!
As I said earlier, 1st will not allow appeals to a failed score - if it was CRA related you can appeal.2010 - year of the troll
