AS in the case of quite a lot of threads nowadays, this one seems to have degenerated into another swap of abuse that has nothing whatsoever to do with your issue or as some may see it - perceived issue with Thomson.

I don't know whether you have a case against Thomson for more recompense than a £150 voucher off your next holiday - but I know (of) a lady who WILL know.
Thank you - that's perfect - just the help I was looking for.

    You're welcome.

I regret that your initial experience of this website was similiar to kids falling out in a playground.

There's lots of great advice to be had on here so don't let it put you off coming back. ;)

It may be worth posting your experience of this hotel in the 'complaints' section on HT.
There's lots of people on there who (although they don't have legal experience as such) are very clued up and you'll get (generally) sensible comments about your possible claim against Thomson.

    Regards

Why do I get the feeling we are all being told off?:rotfl:

There is no need to have a superior attitude / holier than thou attitude to anyone. This is a public forum for debate - everyone is entitled to an opinion.

You are not special. (neither are we)

Lets all be friends and perhaps agree to disagree.:D

If you're getting the feeling you're being told off, you're wrong.

I've not a superior attitude/holier-than-thou attitude at all.

The OP came here (as a newbie) asking for advice.
My point was that several members over about a dozen posts decided to have a spat which may have amused them but didn't help the OP at all.

Of couse I agree that everyone is entitled to have an opinion - but the posts I'm referring to WEREN'T expressing an opinion about the OP's issue.

As far as I'm concerned, I've contributed some constructive advice to the OP - which is more than the last few posts have done.

I'm all for being friends and agreeing to disagree - but I think you should address that advice to other members.

And, lifeisbutadream - I do not need 'praise' for trying to be helpful and following forum rules in being nice to newbies.
What was the point (and what enjoyment did you get out of it) in highjacking the OP's post?

I have no intention of getting into a spat with you so this is the last I will say on this subject unless the OP comes back.

Apologies - i meant you have a £150 voucher. This is what you deserve for your distress.

Thompsons are not stupid and deal with 1,578 complaints like yours every week (yes its a random figure!)

you are getting a fair percentage of your holiday cost back, well done for kicking up a fuss and upsetting thompsons - now every price in the brochure goes up 1% next year to pay for you and everyone like you that demands monetary recompense after a holiday.

and if your not happy with a voucher then go and sell it on ebay. Be sure to tell any potential purchasers how good thompsons holidays are though .

Thats inaccurate though isn't it? They are not getting any percentage of their holiday back. they are being asked to book another holiday with the same company at which point they will get a percentage taken off THAT holiday. Surely you can see that is a very different scenario. They are being asked to lay out more cash before they are refunded for services not supplied on a holiday they have already taken. I will make the point again. If you go to a supermarket, pay for a bottle of wine which you have not received you are not then forced to wait until you purchase something else before you receive a refund for that item!

I fail to see why anyone thinks it is acceptable for a customer not to get what they have paid for.

I am sure you are correct in saying that holiday companies receive hundreds of complaints every year. Surely that should prove even more that they need to get their act together and stop taking holiday makers for mugs!

 do you not understand what a :p is?

Where exactly did I hijack anything? I offered the OP some advice and told them to ignore the rude posters from earlier !

*Stomps off after Pollycat and refuses to get into a 'spat'*

    :T

    Thompsons are not stupid.

(See - i said it quietly this time)

the whole point is Thompsons have made a "gesture of goodwill" already. whether it was in vouchers, cash or bananas they have still made an effort.

unlucky OP you didn't get what you wanted but you still got something, life's kinda crap like that sometimes.

And Pollycat - you are doing it again! I can only presume you cannot see that your posts are coming across as very condesending. If you are desperate to have the last word then by all means reply after this post.

I'm taking my ball and going home! ;)
