I travel with children - the reason I go on holiday is so they don't vegitate in front of the tv. They do enough of that at home.
I hate people with a vengeance who go on holiday to spend all day in their football shirts (usually fat men with bald heads). Drink pints of British Lager ( Fosters, Budweiser, Kronenberg etc etc), eat fish and chips in the BRITISH CHIPPY.. Go to the BRITISH BAR to watch Man Utd play AC Milan ( even though at home they dont atually watch football)...Expect the locals to speak ENGLISH....I actually heard someone say to a local in Portugal "What do you mean - you dont speak English?"..
They then go to a Karaoke night - followed by BINGO in the Flamingo Bar and spend the rest of the time frying like a lobster by the side of the pool reading 2 day old copies of The Sun.
AAARRGGHHHH....
They then get on the same plane as you home and are left with 50 Euros which they MUST SPEND. The thought of going home with money left send them into a panic.0 -

One villa had a TV, one didn't. Chose the one that did, just in case of bad weather.
What was working and what was not is largely irrelevant.
It's a shame to spend two hours with a rep going through issues, being assured they will be addressed and then they're not.0 -

Indeedy doody.
I was just going off on one for no reason whatsover.
I just thought it odd that a priority on holiday is a tv.
If it rains play scrabble, cards or even *GULP* have a conversation with the ankle biters.
I wonder how we managed in the "olden days" without tv on holiday....or even *DOUBLE GULP* mobile phones.
I know what we did as kids, we drank ciderette and hung around with Dodgy Dave at the penny arcade because he let me press his nudge button.0 -
Sounds like you are being too picky OP. Just take your £150 voucher or give it to a friend. I don't think your holiday problems are worth any more than that tbh.0

i hope theres more to your complaint than the kids not being able to watch tv and having to wash dishes the old fashioned way !
If you book a holiday sepcifically because of certain things - ie. TV and dishwasher, then IMO you should get them. Why should you 'wash up the old fashioned way' - your on holiday !!!!!!!
No wonder holiday companies get away with doing whatever they like, if people are prepared to accept it. These items should have been repaired whilst they were away and very quickly too.
OP - we stopped going on 'pagkage' holidays years ago - they are simply not worth it - my friend has just had to rebook her holiday as Thomas Cook decided to make a last minute change from a 2 bed to a 1 bed - a change they said was 'insignificant'.
Try booking a villa privately next time - I know it doesnt help this time though sorry.0 -

OP - please ignore the pathetic replies on here - obviously from people jelous of you having a villa holiday - either that or simply just bored and felt like 'having a go' at someone
I think that you had every reason to complain - we once went booked a holiday with a washing machine, only to find it not working when we got there - it was eventually fixed on the last day. Yes I 'managed' to wash our clothes by hand, but why would I want to??? I booked and paid for something I did not get and I was very annoyed about it. I didnt get anywhere either on return though, which is why I would never use the large holiday companies again - they are only interested in getting your money.
Vote with your feet. Leave the holiday companies to all the people on here, who obviously arent fussy and dont mind being ripped off0 -
I am sure your children were deeply upset by not being able to watch Sky news and sky sports news.
That is rather unfair! If you are paying for something then it is my opinion that you have a right to expect that it be provided. Would you go into a supermarket and pay for a bottle of wine at the checkout which you were not given? Of course not. Why is this any different?
To the OP - I do feel that the amount offered of £150 is fair under the circumstances. However, do what i did when I was offered compensation in the form of a voucher for a future holiday. Send it back to them with a polite but firm letter pointing out that the claim is in respect of THIS holiday and NOT a future holiday. Tell them the vouchers are of no use to you as you are unable in the forseeable future to be in a position to use the them but that in any event, you did not pay for the holiday with vouchers, you paid in cash and therefore any reimbursement should be made to you in cash. Tell them you await their cheque for £150 within the next 10 days. It worked for me and I got my cheque. Its worth a try for you.0
