Damaged Pig !

If they're in the middle of moving, they'll be really busy, so I'd give them a few days to get back to you.ukbadger wrote:Hi Hayley,
Thanks for your email about the pigs - we were really disappointed to hear
how Nathaneal has been broken during transit. Because you left positive
feedback quite a while ago, we assumed all was fine and we're not sure we
still have the receipt as we are in the process of moving house and throwing
things away as we go. We'll have a look for it here, but to be honest I
doubt we've still got it, I wish we'd found out sooner that there was a
problem. How about if we refund you an amount towards buying a new Nathaneal
on ebay?
I didn't leave positive feedback as I hadn't picked it up from the post office - I can't get to the post office during the week as work away from home and I was away for the easter weekend.
Have emailed back saying would rather get a complete refund but no response as yet
Since you bought him as part of a set, you'd have to offer to return the other pigs if asking for a refund of all the money you paid, with the risk of breakage on the return journey, so it would probably be best to check what Nathaniel is worth by himself and ask for that amount, or about 90-95% of it if the broken one is at all repairable (since a broken and repaired one is probably still worth a small amount).0 -
Royal Mail are quite sneaky; I sent something Special Delivery previously and had to prove to them that I didn't receive payment by PayPal to claim insurance. When queried as to what would be the case if I had have received paypal they sad to use paypals compensation. I then asked as I was sending something else SD would they reduce the amount charged as their insurance was no use. Surely they wont need their receipt to be able to claim compensation. The special delivery referece number is on the sticker on your parcel so that should be enough.

Haven't heard anything from the seller since his last email - was interested to read post that he could possibly claim without the receipt - I have the special delivery reference number on the parcel.
Has anyone managed to claim without the receipt ?
Will give him another 48 hours and then chase him up
Thanks for your replies x0 -

If I were you I would have mailed straight back and said they must have made a mistake because you haven't left feedback for them, so they shouldn't have thrown away the receipt.
Also, they say 'you left feedback quite a while ago' - obviously as soon as you received the package and noticed the broken one, you would have mailed asap after that so when did they send them to you? How long was it from when you won, paid and then received the package and as soon as you received it, did you mail them straight away to tell them about the breakage?
Have they got you mixed up with another buyer and that's why they think you had left them feedback?Tank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0 -
I heard from seller lastnight - they found the receipt and have sent it to me via email attachment.
The original purchase was for a full set of pigs - £117.99 plus £15 p&p
there was only one pig (ironically the most valuable) which was damaged.
I am just putting together a claim form for the royal mail - should I claim for the whole £132.99 and return the remaining pigs to the seller or just claim an amount for Sir Nathaniel ?
Not sure if they will allow me to claim as I am not the seller but will give it a whirl anyway.

I would claim for the whole lot as the arent as useful as they were going to be when they were complete. I bought a set of 4 pics, one frame was in bits so therefore the complete set wasnt much use as they werent going to match anymore. RM paid the complete price, if they wont pay you the whole price then you can ask for something towards Sir Nat alone.Bringing up 2 handsome boys and 1 gorgeous girl the MSE way!Joseph born 19th December 2001Matthew born 8th August 2007Tara born 23rd January 20110

Hmmm
If I send the ebay listing info then it says set of pigs so alarm bells will surely ring at the Royal mail
If I send anything that says paypal maybe they will insist that I claim via paypal - to be honest I would refuse this as it's not the sellers fault the pig was damaged , I wouldn't have packed them any better.0 -
When i did my claim i filled in the form attached the postal reciept and that was it. They didnt need to see the ebay listing at all.Bringing up 2 handsome boys and 1 gorgeous girl the MSE way!Joseph born 19th December 2001Matthew born 8th August 2007Tara born 23rd January 20110
