Damaged Pig !

Hi ,
I bought a set of natwest pigs and finally collected them from the post office today to find that Sir Nathaniel - the most valuable member of the family is missing half of his head ! I have even taken him out of the bubble wrap as can see damage quite clearly. I paid £132.99 via Paypal (inc £15 postage)and the pigs were sent special next day delivery (changed).
I have just emailed the seller and while we were sorting payment he seemed a very nice chap so will see what he says about the situation. Would like to know what my rights are - so over to you wonderfully helpful people .....

Wow - I've got one of those Nathaniel piggys. I knew they were collectable, but I didn't know they were that valuable. :j0

Nathaniel is worth about £60 - £70 on his own , check out ebay ! :beer:0

Only Recorded Delivery for a very fragile 133 pounds item ? They can claim max 32 pounds from PO, and it's then up to their generosity to refund you the rest...0

Just checked and they sent it special next day delivery - I am hoping this makes a difference ??0

Special is up to 250 insured (well, might be a bit more now) so you will hopefully be ok
Not sure if it has any special conditions for fragiles. 0 -
..and now there's one less in the world, mine will be worth even more. Mwha, ha, ha, ha! :dance:ukbadger wrote:Nathaniel is worth about £60 - £70 on his own , check out ebay ! :beer:0 -
You should be fine if it was sent via special delivery. That service offers £500 compensation for loss/damage as standard.-->♥<-- Sugar Coated Owl -->♥<--

Woohoo! I'm normal! Gotta go tell the cat.0 -
Would the seller have to claim the refund ?
Wonder what I will have to do with the pigs - perhaps I will have to pay the £18.50 it costs to post them back which won't be good for the pocket0 -
I think the seller would put in the claim. There is a reference number on the special delivery label that the seller should have kept.-->♥<-- Sugar Coated Owl -->♥<--

The seller must be the one to claim compensation, but I'm not sure if this can be arranged without returning the item. It might help if you provide the seller with photos of the damage. In any case, you should keep all the packaging, since RM might want to see it to decide whether it was packed well enough for them to have to accept liability. Special Delivery does include cover for ceramics (if suitably packed) whereas other postal services do not.0
