Do you love your wedding invites Shell? If you do then that's all that matters I feel. It is your wedding after allSealed Pot Challenge Member 1216 -

I do love them!! and i've ordered them, but this is the first time my mum hasn't liked anything i've chosen, and its knocked me for six a bit!0

You've got to remember there are loads of cogs to the wedding machine and I reallly hope you take this the right way but if the only thing your mum doesn't like is as 'simple' as the invites then I think that is OK
PS I know invites are important to most people but I think there are more important parts to weddingsSealed Pot Challenge Member 1216 -

Hi There June Guys!
After 7 yrs together, my other half James and I are getting married June 11th (1940's inspired theme with a scottish twist). Lots of stuff have be done/booked and still lots to do!!!
We sent out 1940's themed "save the date" cd's which everyone loves as it was so different. We did them using smilebox - they had a 2 week free trail but i have kept it going as i love all the things you can do.
Groom, Bestman and Grooms father have been measured for suits from Debenhams. (purple waistcoats and ties) Buying my little boy his suit from ebay as debenhams wants to charge the same price as the mens and i can get it half price from ebay and keep it.
Thisle button holes brought.
Black Bridemaids dresses and shoes paid for. The dresses are coming from China so fingers crossed they are great.
Hair pieces have be brought - thistles, white roses and heather with my tartan ribbon.
My flowers have be brought - thisles, white roses and heather with my tartan ribbon.
Bridemaids flower to buy
My 40's style veil, wedding ring and all the jewelley brought
My dress to buy but waiting to see how the bridemaids dresses turn out (its white and black)
Proper Invites to send in March - thistle design
The plan is so far........
- My 2 bridemaids and myself are staying at a beautiful B&B the night before the wedding (deposit paid)
- The day guest meet at Seething airfield (1940's american airfield) at 11am for drinks and photos then hop on the 1950's coach (deposit paid) to be taken to wedding venue. I'm producing a music cd to play on the way with wedding theme songs and a few unexpected songs - no-one knows about this.
- We are getting married at Cley Windmill on the north norfolk coast (deposit paid - meal to sort out still).
- My 2 bridemaids are singing and playing the flute while we sign the register and one of their husbands is in charge of the music (opera babes - flower duet, to walk down to and "Celebrate" to walk back up to - I was think of Halallula but we can't have religion).
- We then hop on to the coach back to Seething for our reception (my OH is chairman there so it hasn't cost anything to hire). We plan to have a 1940 sing song on the way back so designing song books for everyone
- We brought 2 marquees for the reception as hiring was over £1000 each - we will sell them after the wedding. We also brought xmas lights in the sale to put round the marquees and give the band some light. We are looking at buying some parachute canopies to decorate the roof of the marquees. We have been given a generator for the day so that saves us more money.
- My work is letting me have some picnic benches for the day and we have brought some pretty lantans and put led lights in them (from xmas sale). I'm on the look out for old deck chairs to uphostler so people can sit on the grass and watch the band. I'm also looking for old travel trunks and suitcases to turn into bins. I am making my own bunting for the airfield (union jack) and the windmill (thistles)
- We are looking at Chip vans for the reception but i have also asked the restuarnt at my place of work to give me a quote. I have also contacted coke-a-cola regarding glass bottles of coke.
- We are buying the cake from M&S and buying a quiach from ebay to put on top and then drape a piece of my tartan over it.
- We have booked a big band for the night and inbetween their play we are playing news reels throughout the war years.
- We have asked some re-anactors to come along with their military vehicles and our jive class said they will do a short lesson for our guests in return for food and drink.
- The only thing we have not sorted out in any way is our honeymoon. We started to but then last month my OH's brother announced he was getting married 2 weeks before us on a week day which meant my OH had to book holiday for it and this will affect his work for the rest of that week - he dont work he dont get paid. We now only have a couple of days for our honeymoon :0(

Welcome Skyeceilo!
Hope you are all well?! Just giving us a bump up so we don't get lost - we are obviously too busy planning our weddings to be posting on here!
Sorting out bridesmaid dresses on Saturday. As long as they are happy and comfy, and the dresses are the right colour, they can pick what they want (within some reason and budget!). I have my 29 year old best friend and 12 year old niece, so we'll see what happens. Ordered a sample of some place name holders on ebay, that were a quarter of the price as everywhere else, so hopefully they will be ok and I have a bargain not a rip off. Lots still to do and 148 days to go..
Also, who else got excited at new year, as they could now say they are getting married this year?!:rotfl:0 -
You're right TamVilla, I'm definitely feeling the change of pace since the New Year.
Lots of decisions to make and time goes so quickly, I'm now in the tricky business of arranging transport and accommodation for my out of town family and friends, what a headache!
I keep huggging my dress in the spare room (sad, I know), that makes me feel better and relieves the pressure:grinheart It's Mrs Coupon now - saving and comping my way to a brighter future :grinheart0 -
My dress is in my old bedroom at my Mum and Dads house. Everytime I go up stairs I have to have a quick peek too!
I'm actually quite enjoying all the random things to sort out, even if they are a headache, secretly you know you like it:rotfl: We don't feel stressed, just feel like we should be because everyone says we should be!0 -
I have pangs of terror - SO MUCH TO DO!
We've got to:
Meet the wedding coordinator at the venue (to pick food, drinks, sort out the day in generaly, organise accomodation etc)
Make our invites and send them out
Get all dresses & suits (I'm meeting my dressmaker at the beginning of feb)
Get our rings
Sort out music (we're speaking to a band)
Decide on our first dance & music for the ceremony
Think about place settings & center pieces, guest books, favours etc
Do our pre-wedding shoot
Set up our gift list

Hi everyone! Can I join you? We're getting married on June 18th. Getting slightly panicky at how much we still have to organise / pay for. We've only been engaged since September, and didn't finalise the date 'til December, but now I think about it I've realised I could have got on with things a lot quicker
Have done:
*ordered dress and paid deposit (doesn't arrive until May though)
*booked church and paid deposit
*booked church hall for reception
*guest list written
*bridesmaids & best men asked
*save the date messages sent to all possible guests from abroad (can't decide whether to do save the dates for people here, or save money on postage and either send emails / phone them?)
Still to do:
*organise food for meal
*organise evening buffet
*organise music (trying to get a local band we saw at new year - proving difficult to get hold of the right person  - they were awsome though, so we're persevering)
*organise photographer (have 3 possible options at the momemt, but have yet to pin any of them down to actually see their work / discuss prices )
*bridesmaid dresses
*suits
*rings
*make and send invites
*order artificial flowers for bouquets and buttonholes
*make bouquets and buttonholes
*purchase drinks for reception
*make / buy / organise venue decorations
*make / puchase favours
and probably about a squilllion other things which I've forgotten...OMG
Hope everyone else's planning is going wellmuch work to be done - new sig coming soon...0
