Hi!
We're getting married on 4 June 2011, so excited about it all! The church is booked, the dress has arrived, shoes were the first thing I bought and a friend has volunteered to take photos. The only problem is a reception venue. We're working on a budget of under £4000 and the venues we've seen so far have either been too expensive, wanted us to do things THEIR way = too expensive, or been a bit smelly, like beer that was spilled 40 years ago and never cleaned up.
If anyone has any suggestions of inexpensive venues in Liverpool (preferably south Liverpool, as that's where our church is) please, please, please let me know.
Apart from that stress, I'm really excited about it all! Woop woop! :TWins: Stairgate worth £27.99 and ViewSonic Monitor worth £129 = £156.99/2015, hoping to win a car!0 -

I just found this thread now. We got engaged in October and have yesterday booked the local registry office and a reception venue for 25th June 2011- exciting!:) I was unsure of the registry office at first, as it is a bit of a state outside, but decided to do it anyway, as the reception barn is reallypretty.
Anyhow, now we move on to the food, and I wanted to keep things cheap by having a bbq buffet instead of a formal meal (in the hope that it will hold off raining in cumbria for just one day!). I have only got one quote so far froma caterer, but he is telling me £40 per person for canapes, waitresses, crockery, tablecloths cutlery, glasses etc, then a cold starter, some really nice sounding chicken/sticky pork/steaks/aubrgine gratin options, then dessert. I can take off canapes for £3.50 each, and dessert too, but it still seems pricey. Has anyone got any tips for this, or prices they might expect? I really thought a bbq would be cheaper (but I thought photographhers and dresses, venues and everything else would be cheaper too, so maybe I am not a realist!) As it is a barn, we can do what we want, so the priice doesn't include alcohol/drinks, apart from tea and coffee. Any suggestions/voices of commonsense would be very much appreciated!
PS- we are based in the north lakes, which is where the wedding and reception will be, if that is any help for any possible recommendations0 -
Hi Catterlen. Congrats! Can't help you with anything in your area, but everything has turned out more expensive than I thought so you're not the only one, lol! Everyone on here is really helpful, so if you shout on the main board then more than likely someone will be able to help you. All I can recommend is shop around and you will find a deal, and get yourself a spreadsheet for your budget.0

Hello, can I join you all on here please?! I got engaged last week and have set a date for 25th June 2011. I'm pretty scared reading about all you guys who are all organised - I haven't started really apart from getting quotes!! Going to be lots to do in the next few weeks. We can't get married in July/Aug/Sept/Oct as we're farmers and really really busy then. As we want (and there is only 1 other venue within a reasnoble distance of us) a marquee on the farm that kinda rules out Nov - Feb as a bit cold! Didn't want to leave it till 2012 as I'll be 31 by then and I want to enjoy being married for at least a few months before we do the whole kids thing.
Here's hoping I can do it!!0 -
Thanks nunnygirl, that's the one! We loved it so much and when we saw it in real life it looked even better and it's all chocolate and has sparkles and is just gorgeous! I can't wait to see it on the day....I don't think I'll want anyone to eat it lol!0 -

Congratulations zcrat41! Don't worry that your only just starting, that bit was daunting for all of us! From my experience I would find a venue and set a date and then find your wedding dress....everything will fall into place from there! I put off finding my dress as I was so worried, but in hindsight it was a great experience and has made things so much easier since the whole theme comes from the dress and the venue!0 -
My mum hates my wedding invites and i'm quite upset about it
Other than that i haven't got much else done!!
