Hello all,
bit annoyed with MSE as they usually email when theres new posts on this thread, but not had an email for months till a few days ago, and theres been loads since i was last on here
well, the move to Scotland went fine, but unfortunately i've not been able to find a job for 2 months now, getting very antsy about it. on the plus side, we've been staying at my mums house and my other half has been managing to save loads, so it's maybe not all bad.
so welcome to everyone thats joined in the past few months, have updated the front page, so if i've missed a name or date, let me know.
hi Emma1988, whereabouts in Scotland are you, i'm in Angus.
i heard somebody talking about the song "somewhere over the rainbow" from 50 first dates - i love that song and that film, and i'm thinking about having that as my "walking up the aisle" song. that or a badly drawn boy one - the Shining (its got a lovely brass instrumental and makes me think of happy times!)
also, i saw you all talking about using song lyrics as readings - thats funny cos i was lying in my bed one night thinking about reading out coldplay's green eyes, as the lyrics just seem perfect for me and my other half - i always think of him when i hear that song!
this is a long post so think i'll do a separate one of my "updates":heartsmil Getting Married 11th June 2011 to the lovely Graham:heartsmilWedding/honeymoon fund so far £69000 -
so, my updates...
things that are done!
venue - booked
band - booked
humanist celebrant -booked
photographer - have asked my mums friend to do it (as we can do all the editing)
dress - got - finally (after looking at about 8 dress shops, last one i tried on - well wouldnt try on more after it! didnt like woman in shop though, so emailed round other shops and got it £10 cheaper at another shop! anyway it ordered and should be in around september)
the shoes! - got them in the faith administration sale - theyre very lovely, high and PURPLE suede!!
veil - got one on ebay for £5, need to unstiffen it a bit
flower girl dresses - i know its silly, but found them in debenhams, they were the perfect colour, and about half or quarter of the price of what i'd originally planned to get, plus theyre not too bridesmaidy so they'll be able to wear them again throughout the summer and are machine washable http://www.debenhams.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/prod_10001_10001_232020215148_-1?breadcrumb=Home%7EKids%7EDresses+%26amp%3B+skirts
not done
cake - making and decorating it myself (as an ex-pastry chef, i couldnt let anyone else touch my cake!)
all stationary (invitations, place names/favour holders, menus, thank yous, order of service) - bought my supplies off ebay, all card, flowers, ribbon, so just waiting on getting a job and a house so i can make it in bulk and lay it all out - no space at my mums house!
Favours - need to sell some more bits on ebay to build my funds again, but once i do, i can get my little wooden hearts, and again, i need the space to lay them out and paint them.
kilt hire - need to go round all the companies again and get definate quotes, and what tartan they can give us
flowers - again, need more funds on ebay, but once i have that, can get my silk or foam roses as i'm planning on making bouquets for me and bridesmaids, flower girl wands, and getting wooden roses to make centre pieces
jewellery/tiara - got all the jewellery wire, need to get some beads, crystals and head band, then will get making my bits and bobs!
bridesmaid dresses - need to get my 2 cousins together and get their dresses sorted!
i've probably missed heaps, but nevermind!
hope the rest of you are all getting on well xxxx:heartsmil Getting Married 11th June 2011 to the lovely Graham:heartsmilWedding/honeymoon fund so far £69000 -

Hey! :TIm in Inverness
Nothing daft about getting your flower girl dress from debs, we got outs from bhs and it looks amazing!0 -
it wasn't the fact that they were from debenhams, but because they were for two wee girls who are constantly growing!! i was told by a few people that they are the last things that should be bought, but once i saw them, i just couldnt resist!
i originally bought my neice who will be 6 on the wedding an age 8, and my OH's neice who will be 3.5 and age 6. i thought, "that'll be fine, 2 ages bigger, will allow for growth, and it's always easier to take them in than let them out!"
but my neice came round to visit one day so we decided to try her in her age 8 dress, and she fitted it just now - eeek. so went back to debs and bought her age 10, and contacted OH's brother and told them to try their daughter in the dress and see what she was just now, so have now got her an age 7.
but i just love the dresses. and they were only £24 each (plus we had got a £20 debs voucher from engagement, so used that) so two dresses for £28. and originally i had my eye on really lovely flower girl dresses on ebay which were £57 each! they would have never been able to wear them again really, so i feel very practical and MSE lol!!!:heartsmil Getting Married 11th June 2011 to the lovely Graham:heartsmilWedding/honeymoon fund so far £69000 -
Thats an amazing buy!!! The one we got was meant to be 65 but we got it for 52, but what u got is a total bargain! Well done. My mother in law bought the dress as its my OH niece, so that was nice of her!
I know what you mean, hope she doesnt grow out of it! She will be just turned 3 when we get married so got her a age 3! So lets hope its okay!!0 -
Hey everyone. thought would see how your all doing!
Clare that was me talking about the over the rainbow song - its lovely isnt it! (also thats a good film!!)
I am trying to hold off ordering dresses for my flowergirls - one almost 2 and other just turned 9. i wont be able to gage properly the sizes.
think have decided on these ones;

but with orange band, and the lil FG will wear oragne with pink.
These best i found so far, so hopefully will be OK!
We just been talk to the new guy at the rugby club as the one we confirmed times etc with has left and passed on no details- all thankfully went OK and we have got things confirmed, given prices of wines, measured tables to look for table clothes etc! its good feeling cos we bit further on now with that side of things!
got these through the post today for BM's;

also my very talented fiance came up with this poem to go with it;
On this necklace there is a little sign,
eternity, existance for a limitless amount of time
we think this suits how our love should be conveyed
our gift to you, from us our wonderful bridesmiad.
am pleased with it!! :j
hope everyone else is doing ok! xx:heart2:Married my Prince Charming on 15th April 2011 - perfect day!

The problem you're having with bridesmaid dresses is the same one I'm having at the moment curlylou, but I've just ordered one in a size bigger than she will be next year as MIL2B is a seamstress so she will be able to fix it if it is too big for her
Meeting my photographer on Monday and going to look at the reception venue on Saturday......it's all coming together!!
LOVE that necklace and the poem.....so sweet!!Sealed Pot Challenge Member 1216 -

We met our photographer this week, he's really nice, and his work looks amazing - can't believe we're having him as a gift.
We even pencilled in a rough date to do some pre-wedding shots0 -
Morning all the June 2011 Brides :j
I've finally bitten the bullet and started the ball rolling for my button bouquet and H2B buttonhole :T I decided on Liza from Letters4Lilly as she has such a good reputation and she seems adorable when I've had my chats (well, emails!) with her. Its going to be expensive but its something that will last forever and we're only getting them for us as opposed to bridesmaids and everyone which will keep costs down.
Having issues with the entertainment in the evening. We need to find a DJ (somewhere local to Worksop) for the evening doo and I have not got a clue! Any tips?
The deposit is down on my dress & the bridesmaids dresses are chosen which is a weight off my mind. I need to find little pink top hat fascinators now but I think there's someone in Sheffield who makes them at a reasonable price so that should be good! I'm stuck between a birdcage veil or something more traditional for me so I think that'll be a day going around and trying loads on!
I need to find a hairdresser for the morning too and pray my hair grows before the wedding. It seems to have got a mind of its own now and is growing like mad! Not that I'm complaining. Only difficulty being, I live in Worksop and the ceremony is near Hull. That should be fun.
Oh well, update over for now I think. Hope everyone's planning is going well! Not long now ladies... :T0 -
Oh. I forgot something. Giving notice. What is that all about? What do we have to do? Do we need to do it at all seen as we're getting married in a church or is it a registry office / hotel thing?0
