The excavators of Pompeii got very hot under the collar in Victorian times and suppressed their findings. They did not fit in with the "learn Latin and become a truly civilized citizen" ethos of the time.
Perhaps the Romans were in part motivated by the fear that their children might adopt the customs of those rather dodgy people living in Greece.
Perhaps some classical scholar can fill in the details for us.
Just as there are those who worry about the effect of the chamber of horrors on "the children", there may be some that would find a visit to some parts of every day life in the charming small town.Such people may not want to click the link. Personally I found it a enchanting place and spent most of the day there. I recommend a long visit especially if one can avoid the coach parties and wander about out of season.

The Greeks were certainly a rude lot; or uninhibited, is possibly a better way to put it.
That said, not half as rude as the load of degenerates on this thread.
