I searched sold prices in Kings Langley (WD4) and I can't find anything that sold for exactly 335k in 2008. Either they gazundered or something else happened.

(I used nethouseprices.com, where you can search by year, but I might have missed it.)

they upped the bid to £343k then settled on £350k didn't they?

What: what about somewhere where the space works for them, where they can frolic through their home knowing its right for them, where the kitchen fits and the bathroom has room for two and the bedroom makes them frisky. why buy a house for other people????

    Nurse, the screens!! :o

Well, I'm back from my LLL reconnaissance mission. The house is the one you found Pastures, well spotted! Its about 100m from the main London Euston trainline (though on the other side of the road). The road was pretty busy too, not a main road, more of a rat run type street that leads to one of the two main roads through Kings Langley.

Can't tell you more than that, was p'ing with rain and I wasn't about to get out and have a look.

I love the bit towards the end where Phil gets that little-boy silly-grin just before he talks about what to offer, and makes the phone call.

Hee hee, I’ll show them how much I can get off this…

And why in this market did the vendor swallow the ‘and you’ll take it off the market’ carp?

There was a special on a while ago where he really messed up doing that.

    Brilliant comedy show! :rotfl:

It seems that it was considered very "cool" to decorate your home with wall paintings in ancient Rome. The two thousand old equivalent of adding value with laminate flooring.

The excavators of Pompeii got very hot under the collar in Victorian times and suppressed their findings. They did not fit in with the "learn Latin and become a truly civilized citizen" ethos of the time.
Perhaps the Romans were in part motivated by the fear that their children might adopt the customs of those rather dodgy people living in Greece.
Perhaps some classical scholar can fill in the details for us.
Just as there are those who worry about the effect of the chamber of horrors on "the children", there may be some that would find a visit to some parts of every day life in the charming small town.Such people may not want to click the link. Personally I found it a enchanting place and spent most of the day there. I recommend a long visit especially if one can avoid the coach parties and wander about out of season.

Well, I don't want to blow my own trumpet - I'll leave that to Aristotle - but I have spent many hours in the library with Plato and a Pot Noodle for company. I won't go on about it on this excellent thread, but I did delve into some of the Greek habits on a previous set of posts.
