Unsure of which post you are referring to, but BA have been flying to NYC for a very long time!

To find the cheapest seats over specific dates then perhaps use http://www.seatcounter.com it'll tell you which fare buckets are available on which planes on all the different carriers across the christmas period - it might throw up some combinations you weren't aware of. (The higher the number in the fare bucket the greater the number of seats there are left at that price)

    edit

Having done a quick search I can see your problem - there is decent(ish) availability outbound between christmas and new year, but there is extremely poor availability on the return journey - I explored up until the Thursday after new years and was still seeing 0's in the discounted buckets and limited availability in the fullfare buckets.

Thanks Malkie for looking, I also found the same problem, it may be I have to give up on my dream after all. The seat prices were so expensive too, obviously it's going the be one of the most expensive times to travel.
  • Can anyone help.

I'm looking for the cheapest way to book up for 3 weeks to disney - for 3 adults and 2 children well (13 yrs and 14yrs) probs looking for a villa, and looking to fly from glasgow.

    around Mid september 2010.

    thanks
  • Just wondered if anyone could explain BA's 'sale' - I had been keeping my eye on the price of holidays to the Maldives for February 2010. Over the course of 2 weeks the price steadily increased by £200. The evening of the sale, the price went down by £205. The following morning, the price was the same and by the time I got home and ready to book it, the price had gone up over £800 !! I 'phoned BA only to be told that all the 'cheap' seats had been sold and that was why the price had gone up. I priced up a different hotel on the same flights and this was relatively the same price before and after the 'sale'. Any help from anyone ... ?? Thanks.

    Probably an 'inclusive tour' fare.

I am assuming you are looking at combined prices on ba.com for flight and hotel. In this case I suspect that the second hotel was offering a substanial discount if booked with a ba flight, whilst the first hotel, was selling at the same rate as before.

It is a good way for travel companies to hide distressed inventories as you don't know if the airline has empty seats or the hotel plenty of spare rooms. In this case I suspect the 2nd hotel has plenty of rooms to shift.

I have flown Virgin twice and American Airlines once, all in ecomony.

I would without a doubt fly Virgin everytime now.

AA was horrible! We were on a long flight from London to Miami and only got fed twice and got one free drink, the entertainment was very poor, not much choice at all

With Virgin we got 3 meals, they came around with snacks twice as well and plenty of free drinks including alcohol (which AA did not give you)

I havent flown with BA though so I cant comment on that

To be honest looking at Virgins PE I dont think I would pay the charges to upgrade it doesnt look that much better than E

  • BA have a Club World sale on now (the prices are loaded into the system, but it is not advertised yet).

Prices are still out of my range (but thanks to Mr Tesco the BA miles are building up nicely for and upgrade to CW next year:D).

No doubt others (Virgin etc) will follow suit soon!

BA is the superior product - it's brand new and extremely well put together. Conversely VAs product is showing serious signs of age and there are frequent reports of their equipment being faulty.

VA have a slightly superior lounge at T3, however the BA ones (there are three) at T5 are outstanding.
