Morning all.
Its not raining, hooray!!!
Kids want to go swimming, so thats great as its free for under 16's round here. Just have to check it isn't too busy, as they are often queuing out the building and round the corner!! I shall go to tesco whilst they swim, as its right next door.
Just given puss cat her antibiotic tablet, she was very good. First time I've given her pills. She has to have 2 a day for next 5 days.
Anyone know where tuna fish is cheap, I am veggie and don't eat fish, but had a tin in the cupboard from ages ago for when DD used to love tuna and sweetcorn sandwiches (she now doesn't like tuna!) and gave it to puss cat and she loved it, and also managed to eat the whole lot.
Am still ploughing through the washing and drying from the childrens holiday with their Dad. Although there was stuff they didn't wear, it was all shoved in a bag with dirty things, and a bit whiffy, so having to wash everything. I'm another one with a mountain of ironing to do!
Pretz - hope you get your pipes fixed quickly (and cheaply!).
To all that are poorly or in need, big hugs.
Have a good day.0 -
Molly - we love cornwall too, Mum was born there and a lot of the family still live there. I agree with your comments about tourists, people seem to forget the income/jobs that tourists provide to the local economy. Everyone as you say is a tourist at some time! as tired mum says I hope you stick around - we're a very friendly lot:)Do what you love :happyhear0

all
to the thread Molly - and don't worry, we embrace all opinions on here, like any family we are not all going to agree all the time, and it has been noted by others that N9eav is getting a rep for being a little bit of a grumpypants at times:rotfl:;)
! But seriously, it's only good humoured complaining I think... I live in Devon near the beach so we have a huge amount of tourists here too, but having grown up here you tend to get used to them for the few months they are here, though the extra traffic is always harder to deal with and we always have an occasional moan about them!
Halight - Glad it went well yesterday hon
Cranky - hope you can sort out some childcare soon.
Sistercas - Happy belated anniversary hon
Lemon - Enjoy your freebie
Redruby - Good luck with the house hunting hon!
Catznine and niclou - hope your daughters are better soon.
Taplady - Sorry your OH still feels so rough
Bitsy - the baby snails did look almost cute but NOTHING gets in the way of my veggies.. I am ruthless.. Even if they get past the copper tape and the slug stoppa granules I have no sympathy and will still squish the little blighters!!
The in-laws are here today to carry on doing some gardening - the bank still has some ivy to be pulled up apparently (I haven't seen it yet, as the weather has not been conducive to me leaving the house for days!)
This year will be the 10th Anniversary of my OH and I getting engaged... (although I always had an excuse never to actually get married..!) and he said I could choose a piece of jewellery as a special gift, so I turned on QVC for the silver sale and found something really beautiful which I am eagerly waiting to recieve. It's HERE if you want to peek, though it looked much better on the presenter! It's full price again now, but we paid £62 on two easy payments which is fab!
Defrosted the freezer yesterday. Found a few oddments of things that we shall form into some semblance of a dinner tonight. Probably something strange like half a macaroni cheese each with a pork steak and sausages.
Hope you are all having a good day. Weather is gorgeous here and once I have posted this, and had my weetabix and banana for breakfast I shall be heading outside. Warm
to anyone who might want one.
Diva.xTo be frugal, you need to spend money wisely, simply spending less is not enough. If you can't handle me at my worst then you don't deserve me at my best...Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the little voice at the end of the day that says I will try again tomorrow.0 -
Morning all
Should be sunny today....so where is it.....no I'm not complaining at least its not raining
Havent been in for a couple of days so not read through, will do later.
Think soup will be the order of the day for Lunch with crusty bread, or maybe baked spuds
Dinner is Chinese spare ribs with rice, and fruit with yoghurt poured over for pud.
Got everything ready for the mincemeat muffins and forgot the baking powder it was bi-carb in the cupboard, not only that but what I though was mixed spice was nutmeg, that will teach me to check properly
pretz - not a good start hope it gets better
halight - great bargains on the food
rosyred - Hope you hear something about the house soon, its sooo annoying when viewers dont let you know one way or the other
taplady - glad OH is on the mend now
catznine - Hope DD is ok and you manage to get away, it will do you all good
Better go get started have good days all
Anne

edit: o how lovely its beautiful Diva x0 -
That's a lovely piece of jewelry....enjoy!!!!
I'm a bit sore about no holiday too especially as I am surrounded by nothing but red brick and heavy traffic...oh well:p
The sun is attempting to peep through. We have stripped (STEADY FOLKS) my son's bedroom so we are on the way to some changes there. Although it has made a terrible mess it 'll be worth it.
Not been very frugal this week but I'm not beating myself up about it because it could have been so much worse.
Have a good day OSers!0 -
Morning all!

Like Molly, I earwig at this post everyday, and fell as if I know you all already, but it's a bit strange to pop my head in and say hi, but I just had to today, to say to Diva, You lucky thing! I love that pendant, saw it os silver sale day, too, and just couldn't afford it at the mo'. It looks just like a big lovely drop of water, frozen in time. I will definitely be having one, if I get the new job I'm after at the moment. Not very OS or MS, but I don't care, I want it!

N9eave, I used to enjoy a holiday every year to Cornwall. Im not lucky enough to live there and could not afford it to be honest. I cant go this year and dont know when I will be able to go again. At this time of year it is constantly on my mind that i would like to be there..right now. Im sorry but your comments about tourists are really upsetting me. Im sorry that the weather is bad, Im sorry that we dare to step foot in your beloved county to enjoy your beautiful scenery. Perhaps we should just stay put whereever that may be? Have you ever been a tourist or visited a place that is not your home? I enjoy reading your comments about your life in Cornwall...about your ride to St ives on the railway...what i wouldn't give for that right now. But it seems that every post recently is about the hassle that tourists cause you. You are so lucky to live in such a beautiful place and it seems that you dont want to share it.
Perhaps I dont have a right to comment only this is a public forum that anyone can access.
You have every right to comment, but until someone actually lives in a tourist resort (whether by the sea or not), then it cannot be understood exactly what it is like to have your daily life disrupted.
I understand perfectly the comments made recently by Haribo Junkie about tourists peering in through her front window or by N9eav about the supermarket being full when it rains.....my local supermarket is the first stop for self-caterers for about a 2 mile radius, and it fills with visitors every Friday evening (weekenders) and Saturday afternoon/Sunday (weekly visitors) to the extent that I now avoid it unless I really have to go.
I work for the Council and appreciate the tourist income is a boost to the town's economy, but please don't get me started about the traffic for the Illuminations........we locals use all the cut-throughs & back roads to avoid the queues - except for those of us who live on the route & cannot get home.0 -
Afternoon all.
Grey day in Concrete Cow Country (how come tourists never want to come here? sorry N9eav):D
Welcome Jackieglasgow & Molly41.
Molly41, I'm isolated like you - disabled with lupus, so I can understand your frustration. I have a lovely husband, but bless him, he has to w*rk, so I'm on my own at home all day.
On to the OS bit, or Pink'n'Penny will ban me.:D:D
Washing done - but I'm not chancing it outside - if it buckets with rain, I don't think I can move fast enough to get it in before it's soaked. Back to the "A" frame over the bath.....
Got to make a quiche in a few mins - quick and easy tea when Mr LW and I have taken Molly-Dog for her walk later Sorry Molly41, I should explain I have a friends labrador staying at the mo. If anyone wants to see her: http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y17/LameWolf/Molly011.jpg
Ladyshopper, well done getting kittie-cat's tablet down her neck.
Taplady, best wishes for your DH, hope he's feeling better. I hadn't realised he had heart probs.
Indeed, all good wishes for everyone who's under the weather today, ((((HUGS)))) to all who want/need one.
If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0
