This is the Daily Thread for Wed 5th August! This is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Dailys' live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good

Morning.

Day off for me and I don't think it is going to rain. Finished late last night after dealing with somthing at work and then decided to hit ASDA, thankfully not too busy and managed to blow £100. Cupboards are full though and should last with the exception of milk and bread until pay day on 15th. Some deals to look out for in ASDA
Country life 500g £1 Can't believe it'd not cheap spread 89p Lamb shoulder roast £3 kg. Smart price whole chickens. Tuna 4 cans J West £2. Other stuff too like cheap pet food right now... so worth a wander.

Hopefully the weather is improving and all those wonderful people here on holiday can get to a beach. They jammed our town right up yesterday with cars blocking every road. Bored see, nothing to do. Lets go to town? But our town is carp, so don't bother! While it's under construction there is no place to park and the traffic lights just jam the place up.

Got my escape team together yesterday. We are having a go at the Dartmoor Jailbreak next year (April 24th) It will take a bit of planning, but if any of you are rich or know of some useful contacts that might help us in the travel industry please PM me. We want to raise BIG money for charity.

Well, time for coffee and try and recover the garden from days of rain. Think the veggies are OK, just need some sun to ripen them up for eatin.

Cheers folks

Morning N9eav and all who follow :) hope you are all well :)

Been at work since 5.00 am this morning, I intended to drive in and wanted to leave early as I haven't driven for a while, but couldn't find my gloves, so got the bus instead. I have got loads done in the past 1.5 hrs, probably more than I will get done for the rest of the day!

OH is waiting in for my fedex delivery today and working from home. Hopefully it should turn up before 1 pm. He made cake yesterday as he was bored and we spent the evening playing Laska, which I have decided I am terrible at - really odd as I was a high level chess player in my youth :)

Not much OS'ing again today - I put some washing in before I left, but didn't turn it on. Have to go to the post office to collect a packet today and probably out to the nearest bike shop to get some new gloves :) Dinner will be the stir fry I was going to cook yesterday :)

Have a good day, cel x

    Morning peeps

N9eav - Thanks for the Asda tips, i shall make the effort to get there in the next couple of days.

Celyn - i`m intrigued, what is Laska? it brought back so many happy memories seeing that word on the page as it was the name of our beautiful white long haired german shepherd, she was a real gentle dainty girly girl and i miss her so much.

This morning i dragged myself out of bed a bit earlier than usual as i needed to iron some clothes for w*rk  i also remembered to get a hm steak & ale pie out of the freezer for DH tea later, i meant to do that yesterday but forgot so he ended up with pasta and a cobbled together sauce:D I`m dieting so tuna steak for me with coriander and some cabbage. Rainy here today but i hope that it clears later as the garden needs a bit more work, the forecast for Thursday is better according to DH but i shall have a look myself later.

Belated anniversary greetings to Sistercas, hope you had a lovely meal.

Taplady - Hope that your DH is feeling better today.

    Anyone heard from Sunnygirl?

Catch you all later guys, have a good day.

Well its lovely warm and sunny here already.

So plans are - paperwork and housework this morning then head off somewhere with the kids later. Probably the beach or maybe a walk along the canal.

Will bung some washing in to try and make good use of the weather.

Blanched some runners for the freezer yesterday will check again tomorrow. Have some tomatoes going red now but we wont be overrun with them this year - has been the worse year ever.

Bacon n egg for tonight as didnt have it yesterday.

    Have a great day.x

    Morning everyone.
Dull and damp here. Goodness is it ever going to get any better? It doesn't have to blistering hot just a wee bit of sunshine would be nice :(

Not much to report OS wise. Might have a makeshift for tea or something out of the freezer. Just the usual cleaning and washing to do. Might take the kids out for a walk if it stays dry and DS is bouncing off the walls a bit. He's taken to jumping around on the sofa so that isn't going to last at the rate he's going (and its a good 10 years old as it is!). We had our hair cut yesterday and since DS has been playing up about having his done we asked her to get the clippers on it. It's now far too short and I don't like it :( Hopefully it will grow back really quick. H totally fed up with his job for various reasons. Wish we could just jack everything in and go somewhere else. He's good at his job but the office politics and back stabbing where he works is really getting him down (and therefore me too - I don't like seeing him so fed up and not sleeping). Roll on our hols so he can have a break away.
Hugs to all that need one.
Have a good day OS or not.

Good morning everyone. I've just seen the forecast for the UK today and it looks pretty good; they've even said it will reach 28degrees so I hope you all get some much-needed sun.

A lovely start to the day here with blue skies and bright sun, but I know it will get too hot to be out by mid-morning.

Dinner today is spaghetti bolognaise followed by yet more plum crumble - we're having plums for pudding most days now because the plums are plentiful. My tomatoes are coming on really well now; I can't resist picking them straight off the plants and eating them, but I shall try and save some for salad, too.

Plans today are to work this morning but I also need to run the hoover around and do some dusting, so I will get cracking on that in a minute.

Pretz - I hope the day improves as it goes along.

Hope everyone is well and that you all have a good day.

    Good morning all.

Well the sun is shining and it's dry so my day will consist of getting as much garden tidying done as possible, given that the house also needs a thorough going over. But I can clean house in the rain can't I, so should give priority to the garden, eh?;):D

Yesterday I cooked a huge joint of beef, which we had with yorkies, roast potatoes, and loads of veggies. I sliced the whole joint, and have frozen lots of meal-sized portions, but have kept some in the fridge for cold eating. Today we'll have some with salad from the garden. I have ripe yellow tomatoes as well as red, so that looks colourful on the plate :D Now if only I could stop the slugs nibbling my radishes .......

Pretz, hope your day gets better.

Taplady, hope DH is feeling better soon.

    Bye for now, CM

    Morning all,

Looks like it might be a nice day here, off to work today, and dd is coming with me for her first offical shift !

We took the dogs to the woods last night, and the pair of them jumped into the stagnant muddy pond, and they stank, so straight in the bath when we got home, and the pair of them sulked all night :rotfl:

Went to see a house yesterday, but it was no good, it was tiny and needed so much work doing, never mind three more to see today.

I have a turkey leg, which I am putting in the sc today, and will make it into a curry tonight, dd will have quorn curry with rice.

General quick tidy round this morning, will do a wash tonight.
