Sunnyday - Laska (or Lasca) is a really old German board game, designed by a chess grandmaster called Emanuel Lasker - it's a bit like checkers on a strange shaped board, only you build and destroy towers when you jump pieces. It's a very easy game to learn, but an absolute swine to master :) I am absolutly pants at it, but OH won't play me at chess since he watched me beat my handheld PC on the train.

Pretz, hope the day improves for you x

Morning Chums ,looks like a sunny day is on the way in North Kent. had a great and very cheap day out with the tribe yesterday at Whitstable. The boys spent most of it 'crabbing' on the beach. So all it cost was the picnic food and cold drinks which were quite cheap.
My DD went and bought 6 ice creams and I nearly fell over when she came back and said it was £12.00 for 6 cornets.:eek:No wonder the supermarkets corner the markets in Ice Cream.
Not too sure what we are up to today, but what ever it is it's going to be hopefully a free one. probably the park, or the library.
Hope everyone is having a good summer and it's not costing them too much. My DD says the boys seem to be permanantly at the fridge, and are eating for England. I think I am going to have a bit of a bake up after breakfast and fill a few cake tins up.
have a good day everyone I am off to see what I can whistle up for the tribe
    Cheers JackieO xx
  • Morning all :)

Hope your pipes get fixed soon Pretz and you get a chance to get some sleep. Another night not sleeping well for me, think I got about 3 hours still don't know why, last night my legs felt like lead and nothing I could do would get me comfortable, absolutely shattered today :( DH said go back to bed, but I've got too much to do.

Treated myself in the wee small hours to a pattern to knit myself a jacket and the wool to do it, total cost under £10 using that boa wool, I've knitted umpteen scarves with it now time to progress, money comes from my spends. I also got some wool to knit a jumper and jacket for my little niece :) Spent £30 but got enough stuff to keep me knitting for months and hopefully keep my fingers out of the biscuit tin, so its money well spent! Also sorted through a couple of piles of magazines and found the X-Stitch one with the Dalek pattern in I wanted to do for DH's birthday card, ahh well there's always next years BD lol

Mrs Moneypenny you just reminded me that DH is supposed to go in the loft to put some boxes of stuff in there and bring some more carp out to sort out to either chuck or distribute to charity shops, shall remind him later. I'm banned from going into the loft ever since I missed my footing and almost put my foot through the ceiling lol!

Hugs to everyone and I hope that all the poorlie people and their poorlie off springs feel better soon, right better go get my b*m in gear and do something.

    :hello:Morning all!

Today is day 3 of tamiflu for dd and she is already feeling much better, though still sleeping for England! Fingers crossed we are out of quarantine by the end of the week. So far dh and I are ok but might have had a mild dose of it a couple of weeks ago, very similar symptoms but not as bad (we did however cancel going to a wedding and put ourselves into voluntary quarantine just in case).

Hopefully will be able to go away for our hols, case is packed and ready just in case.

We had a lovely roast chicken dinner last night with yorkshire pud (made in the remoska) and stuffing (approved foods) and lots of carrots and peas, dd managed to eat almost all of it!:j

Mt ironing pile has been conquered! Just a few odds and ends to do so today I shall catch up on the housework as the place is a wreck! We have some leftover hm chicken stew with jacket potatoes for lunch (or soup if dd prefers) and courgette and tomato bake with sausages (in the remoska) for dinner tonight.

Veg/fruit box has just been delivered - Lettuce, cucumber, pots, carrots, onions, grapefruit, oranges and a mango.

(((hugs))) to those with horrible swine flu specially Tapladies dh

    morning all!

thanks to those asking about my DH - he slept well but says he feels like he's been hit by a lorry - terrible muscle aches and muscle jerks - I had to get up early cos he was so twitchy I couldn't sleep. He's taken some more painkillers and tamiflu and is now soaking in a warm bath to try and ease he aches and pains.

Am having a quiet day, keeping my eye on DH and doing a few jobs, not in work now till the weekend.
2 loads of washing on the line. Tea will be out of the freezer - cheese and potato pie for me, not sure what DH will feel like.

redruby - good luck with the househunting!

    PP - hope you're feeling better x

hope you all have a lovely day

    take care x

Morning all.Hope you are well.A fairlygrey day here, but dry so far.It went really warm last night and muggy, and guess what we had for tea-roast beef.I got it reduced at Tesco yesterday,DS1 ran me-I'm trying to keep him busy!

Got most of the jobs done that I wanted to yesterday, even the ironing, apart from being late making the packed lunches last night as my friend rang up and we were on over an hour.Nice to catch up though.

DS2 was chatting to a girl on Facebook last night who has the same surname as my maiden name. They've had a laugh before about being 'cousins',but decided to delve a bit deeper and it looks like there may be a connection going back to their great grandads who may have been brothers.Just needs a bit more work to confirm-needless to say my files and papers are now strewn allover the place

DH got in touch with the estate agent yesterday to see if there was any feedback from last weeks viewer -they hadnt but had left a message on his answer phone previously,so tried again, and he isnt answering his mobile  I don't mind if they dont want to buy,I just think its polite to say so instead of stringing people along.

Well the dog wants to go out so I'll love you and leave you.x

    Hi,
Have been reading this thread for a while.
I generally really enjoy it..its good to know what other people are doing particularly when, due to ill health, I am pretty isolated.

N9eave, I used to enjoy a holiday every year to Cornwall. Im not lucky enough to live there and could not afford it to be honest. I cant go this year and dont know when I will be able to go again. At this time of year it is constantly on my mind that i would like to be there..right now. Im sorry but your comments about tourists are really upsetting me. Im sorry that the weather is bad, Im sorry that we dare to step foot in your beloved county to enjoy your beautiful scenery. Perhaps we should just stay put whereever that may be? Have you ever been a tourist or visited a place that is not your home? I enjoy reading your comments about your life in Cornwall...about your ride to St ives on the railway...what i wouldn't give for that right now. But it seems that every post recently is about the hassle that tourists cause you. You are so lucky to live in such a beautiful place and it seems that you dont want to share it.

Perhaps I dont have a right to comment only this is a public forum that anyone can access.
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

Sister Cas glad you enjoyed your anniversery:beer:
pretz hope the day improves for you
Rosy hope you hear back from the viewers
Molly I think N9eav is just saying that in the summer the places are so small and very little to do other than the beach that when the weather is bad everyday things are impossible to do leaving locals a little bit exasperated just a general moan i think he and his family love where they live but summer just fills the place up to overflowing You have every right to comment thats what this forum is all about and i hope you stay around and join us
We are off to a friends for a games day and i need to take the car in to be looked at later
    Have a good day
