PayPal Account Suspension Due to MJ Ticket Sale

  • I had the same issue with paypal, they put a 'limitation' on my account, even though I'd already agree to pay the full refund to my buyer.

Problem I had was that I'd already used the money and put it on my credit card and didn't have enough at that time to cover the full refund. Luckily the buyer was fine with waiting a week for my payday before I issued the full refund.

When I got paid I then noticed I couldn't actually transfer any money into my account from my debit card due to this limitation. So I phoned paypal and asked why they would put a limit on my account which would infact mean it takes longer to pay the buyer (10 days for the bank transfer) when I said I wasn't happy with this process the customer service person offered to pay the refund from my paypal account, which left me with a minus figure (but the buyer was refunded straight away) and lifted my limitation, so when I got paid, I paid the money straight to paypal, to clear my minus balance ........hope that all makes sense !

    Hope it helps

i have had the same mail and to be honest there is steam coming out my ears. they have put a block on my paypal account and stopped me making any changes to it.
I sold 2 tickets for mj concert. The day he died i contacted the buyer and we agreed a mutually agreeable solution before anybody else had even thought about refunds. i refunded about 75% of the cost even though i was obviously out of pocket on the whoe thing.
My buyer was delighted with how i dealt with it, and i sent her a cheque.

now paypal start stopping my account. by the way their own rules state that thereis a time limit for getting refunds when a transaction fails, and this 90 days has now passed. secondly the legal position on all this is not as clear cut as they make out. Consumer direct have publically stated that you do not have a right to a refund as the selling of non transferable seats was not a valid contract in the first place. Any legal position is subjet to testing in the courts and this is untested, and not at all clear.

I am through with paypal. they are total coyboys. Their attempt to manage risk in case they get a chargeback by such cavalier methods has cost them me as a customer for life. Hopefully others will take the same view. Mr Angry!!

So does that mean that you could be prosecuted for selling the tickets then?!
