Welcome to the world of Paypal. To be honest Im not surprised this has happened. Im can completely see the OP's point.

Paypal are the most irrational company I've ever dealt with. As soon as they get a bee in their bonnet they go in with all guns blazing, freezing accounts left right and center without using any logic and without listening to the parties involved.

Ebay/paypal required all sellers of MJ tickets to refund promptly once the concerts were cancelled for obvious reasons. Those that complied got their fees back automatically, even the ebay ones, those that refused or delayed were told there may be penalties put in place..as has happened here.

If you were the buyer how long would you want to wait for your refund? This is the disadvantage of ticket touting, you take a chance to turn a good profit and if it doesn't work out you have to be prepared to put it right again quickly. They were quick enough to take the buyers money!

Soolin, I don't think the OP was touting - we don't know the reason for his/her sale, but the tickets sold for "around face value" which kind of indicates a failed touting if a good profit was intended ;)

Ticketmaster will be dealing with the concert promoters rather than Michael Jackson's estate but almost see your logic.
Yes, but the concert promoters would be dealing with his estate :p

On topic, basically you're in the wrong here, not Paypal. You should have refunded straight away. Have you actually explained to Paypal (and the buyer) why you've not refunded yet? If not, I can understand them being twitchy.

...Not sure why they've decided to act in this way given my buyer was happy ...
Maybe your buyer wasn't as happy as he told you?
Surely the buyer must have made a claim for the refund (or otherwise advised them) for paypal to take the action they did?
If not, how can paypal know there was an issue? E.g. you may have refunded the buyer already outside of paypal for all they know.

I like to think I'm a reasonable person, but I wouldn't be happy having to wait for you to be refunded before I got my refund.
If you buy a tin of Heinz baked beans from Tesco and you take them back because they were imperfect, would you expect Mr T to tell you to wait until they had their refund from Heinz before Mr T refunds you?

How were people told this as I wasn't?

Yes. I've been in contact with buyer right away and said if he was happy I would refund once my card was refunded. He was perfectly happy. I had no contact with PayPal at all. I am not a regular seller and the first I knew about it was having my account frozen.

Ebay though required sellers to make a full refund straight away, not waiting for their own refund to come through.

Also, you may find now that paypal won't refund your fees, that was a time limited offer to people who refudned promptly.

How was I supposed to know this?

ps Noticed the multi-quote tab now!

I'm not a tout. I bought 4 tickets with the dates unknown at the time and no friends could go.
