APCOA - Unreasonable Fine Amount?

    Hi,

I never heard anymore - not a single follow up. I'm wondering if that's because I did remember to pay later in the afternoon when I realised that I'd forgotten in the morning. The ticket was purchased via Ringgo after the time the fine was levied but possibly the presence of a ticket on the same day as the fine was enough to confuse or placate them?

    Cheers,
    Andy

    Andy,
Any more update on your situation?? I'd be very interested to hear!

A friend is in exactly the same position, and I believe she went to pay via the phone, thinking it was in 14 days, and it was the 14th day, and the price jumped to £80, thereby putting her off paying, but was prepared to pay the £50 for less hassle.

Another thing is, the number plate has been ever-so-slightly been recorded incorrectly into the APCOA computers, as its correct on the ticket. ("P" instead of "D"); all other details are correct.

She went to pay a scam invoice? Is she not an MSEer or a Watchdog viewer then?

To pay would be like paying an admin fee to a serial emailer claiming you'd won the Nigerian Lottery! Honestly, it's a similar scam and the debt collector letters are part of the series.

Have a look at the whole parking board, the first thread shows what debt collector threats will arrive (but can be safely ignored). All of the other threads, pages and pages of them, are 99% about ignoring private parking tickets:

Watchdog on private parking tickets in May 2010:

Once you and your friend have read some threads and seen the Watchdog clip, if she still wants to pay the scammers rather than make a paper aeroplane out of the fake ticket, maybe she can send me some money for this reply as well - after all I have as much right to 'fine' you as they do! (= none).
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
