How obsessive are you about housework?

I moved out of my parents house in 2005, and I will admit that at home, I did NOTHING in the way of housework etc. Since I have had my own house, I am so anal about cleaning and housework etc its untrue, so is anyone else the same?
Everyday, I do:
Hoover lounge and hall and kitchen. (5 mins)
Mop kitchen floor (5 mins)
do a washing load, dry it (mine and housemate) (2 mins)
wash up (10 mins)
wipe surfaces in kitchen with a bleach spray (2 mins)
dust the lounge (3 mins)
wipe the floor round the cats food area with antibacterial wipes (30 seconds)
rinse the sinks and toilets (5 mins)
empty cat litter tray and refill (5 mins)
empty bins (5 mins)
So, about 40 mins a day is me cleaning and running my house, and its always clean and smelling fresh everyone says, so I am happy to do this, although I do sometimes worry its OCD! Anyone else the same or am I a bit of a freak??

My word!
Every weekend I dust the whole house, clean bathroom and hoover all floors and mop where not carpeted. Also clean all cat food bowls and mat etc, although I only feed her dry food so not an issue with mouldy/dried on old food etc
Every day I clean out the litter tray of "solids" and every week I throw out litter and wash tray (Catsan, best litter ever, no smells at all just soaks it all right up) - it says once a week to refresh the litter on the pack.
Bin goes out when full!
Wipe down kitchen sides every time I cook.
Wash clothes as and when, towels and bed linen once a week on a 60 degree wash
No washing up - dishwasher!
You maybe are a bit keen I would say0 -

I'll hoover every couple of weeks or when it looks like it needs it. I'm really not that dirty, generally.
Mop kitchen floor (5 mins)
Once a week or so
do a washing load, dry it (mine and housemate) (2 mins)
Tend to do my gym kit each day
wash up (10 mins)
Normally do once per day. Sometimes leave the dishwasher til the morning etc
wipe surfaces in kitchen with a bleach spray (2 mins)
If I've used them
dust the lounge (3 mins)
Once a week or so...again, I'm not that dusty
wipe the floor round the cats food area with antibacterial wipes (30 seconds)
Don't have pets - maybe that's why my house stays cleaner
rinse the sinks and toilets (5 mins)
Every couple of weeks
empty bins (5 mins)
When it's full, 2-3 days

Daily I'll do the washing up, wash my gym kit (and maybe some socks etc too) and tidy up...that's about it. Life's too short to make that much mess (or spend that long cleaning it)

after having 3 children working etc i find i have given up keeping everywhere spotless it just gets me frustrated cross and angry if i try to swim against the tide!! although i can still only tolerate a certain amount of mess“most people give up just as they are about to achieve success”If you think you are going through hell keep going - Sir Winston ChurchillIf You Can't Change It, Change the Way You Think About It.SW, 13st5lb, -4 1/2, -1,(12st13.5lbs)0

I worry about it less and less as I get older and during the summer () I would far rather be working in the garden than in the house so if I have a choice the dust stays and I just concentrate on bathrooms, kitchen and laundry, the things you "have" to do.We don't stop playing because we grow old; We grow old because we stop playing.0

I agree - I think pre children I was a bit more house proud (plus it gave me something else to focus on)
Nowdays - I hoover a couple of times a week, clean bathroom and loo once a week, washing once to twice a week
Everything else it done when it needs doing!0 -
Housework? What's that?
Although I am pretty good at putting washing through, drying it on the line and .....oooops, have some ironing to do.:rotfl:Ær ic wisdom funde, ær wearð ic eald.

I've actually just sat down for a breather mid-way through the housework!
There are 4 of us (2 adults and 2 young children). I do:
Downstairs every two days - polish (living room and conservatory), hoover, downstairs loo, kitchen thoroughly. Dishwasher on every day, washing machine at least every second day (I have to stop myself from putting a washing on every day...)
Upstairs (4 bedrooms, en-suit and family bathroom) gets hoovered and polished and tidied up properly - done once a week. Sheets are changed weekly. I iron every 3 days or so (sometimes more often, though).
So no, I don't think you are obsessive! When I lived on my own it was like a tip (I was actually thinking about buying disposable plates and cups because I never in to do dishes...) Now that I'm married and have a family, the place gets messier and I want my children to live in a clean house. There's always something to be done, though...!0 -
Update to my post: household has no children, two tidy adults and a very small cat!
Can't be dealing with dusting every day though, even if I have kids. I just don't understand how there can be enough dust to worry about every day??0 -

How much do you guys spend on cat litter?
I used to use the Tesco Value stuff and changed it all the time, false economy! Now I get the Catsan, it's worth the extra money it does not smell at all!0 -
Think im going to try catsan, I buy wilkinsons, co op or aldi "felius" as its cheap and I tend to get through loads as I too hate the smell, so I spend at least £5 a week on it, never occoured to me that cat litters performed better than others, off to sainsburys in a bit to do shopping so will get some!
