I blindly paid over the odds myself for wickes to install our kitchen a few years back but i knew the price breakdown and actually believed i was going to get a better job and that the cost was justified. I regretted it with the problems we had and then felt stupid.

I take it that was MultiAssistance then...

MultiAssistance were the company that Wickes used for their installations service a few years ago, and was, by all means, an absolute joke. It got to the point where the sales people (including me) refused to sell the service...

In a purely capitalist world then the installer is entitled to extract as much as they can from the consumer.

However Homebase are champions of the Trust Mark scheme, which is supposed to guarantee fair pricing. It doesn't seem unreasonable therefore for a consumer to expect a Homebase price to reflect the costs involved in doing the job (which it may well do, once you consider the overheads of running a huge chain).

    Hi,

We just had our kitchen fitted for £600. That was 8 base units, 2 floor to ceiling units and 2 wall units. He also fitted our oak work tops. He is just a one man band and was exellent, 30 years experience! It took him 5 days.
