    wasnt given--installation cost

also charged £250 fee up-front--for measurement of kitchen in flat

You were given the total price of £5200 - so why were you shocked when you learnt the cost of installation, as it was included in the £5200?

I would have loved to have seen the OP's face if he'd gotten a price for one of my kitchens :D
If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, we have at least to consider the possibility that we have a small aquatic bird of the family anatidae on our hands

because he is a salesman, end of. has the fitter been out to you yet?
or is it just the consultant ( as they like to call themselves ).

the fitter gets 100 for the survey if the fit goes through, 150 seems to much of a mark up, even for them it is usually 40 - 50%.

no doubt it will be in the small print somewhere, but raise mary hell with them. ask to speek to the installation manager, he is the guy who visits customers to put out fires that there fitters / consultants / deliveries cause. he wont be there to speak to but get his number.

I don't really understand the problem here. It seems to me they quoted you a price and you were happy with the price so paid up and now you're just unhappy with how things break up within the price you were happy with?

Surely you're still getting exactly what they told you you'd get for the exact price they quoted you? If you didn't ask for a price without fitting included, surely that's your fault, not the shop's.

You ask why he didn't tell you - my guess would be because you didn't ask.

 I'm confused! You went to a shop and bought a kitchen I presume you were happy with and agreed a price that I assume you felt reflected good value?

    Life's too short.

Fully agree- the OP was quoted a price and was happy with it... why the fuss now?

How does it matter how it's broken down? Bear in mind that the breakdown won't be accurate anyway as there will be cross-subsidisation.
