Hi Lady_K
I was listening to BBC Radio 4 'Law in Action' and right at the very end there was a comment about what redress is available when someone is given an important document but isn't given the time to read it properly and signs without knowing the full implications of what they've signed. It may or may not be applicable - it came right at the very end of this: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/programmes/law_in_action/6102086.stm
Best wishes

Thanx Margaret
I havent heard anything yet from either warm front or the installers but it has only been 3 weeks today since the installer came anyway. I never did ring to find out what I'd signed but the installer said to wait max 8 weeks then call warmfront not them to see how it was progressing. Maybe I should ring warmfront and just ask in the morningThanx

Hi Lady_K
I'm a great believer in picking up the phone and asking!
We have no progress as yet on the boiler replacement, but then, the young guys from the installer told us 'before Christmas'. So that leaves a bit of time yet, and it's not crucial.
An older couple who live a few doors down from us came and asked us if we would recommend the firm who replaced our roof back in May. 'Too right we would - no question' was our response. They'd just had a matured savings/insurance policy and wanted to use it to replace their roof before winter, and it was done last week. So that's us and them, 2 older couples who will be dry and weather-tight before the winter sets in. Money well spent.
Best wishes

I rang warmfront and they said to ring kershaws to ask about the papers at the same time I asked about the status of my application and they told me they still havent heard back from the installers (kershaws) yet.
When I rang kershaws the lady told me that the papers I signed were for having the assessment and for allowing the work to go through. She wasnt very friendly and she really couldnt wait to get off the phone, she was a little rude really but she said it would be about 10-12 days before they send the quote through to warmfront and there would then be a few more stages to go before the installation can go through. I don't know if it will go in before Christmas but I'm really hoping so
My house is suffering through no heating theres mould growing on the walls and ceilings and it smells mouldy and damp. I have 1 elec fire in the living room but I brought a halogen heater from a cheap shop yesterday for £11.00 but I'm worried about if this will be expensive to run. Its got 3 heat settings 200wt 400wt and 1200wt and it rotates on one setting and that says 800wt. It says on the tech data 220-240v/50hz, power 1200w Does anyone know if its expensive to run?Thanx

Hi Lady_K
I am appalled by the way you're being treated by this scheme which - in theory - should be of such benefit to you. Well, it's people like you whom the scheme is designed for in the first place, rather than people like us who (a) could afford to pay for it anyway and (b) are not cold at the moment and it really doesn't matter to us when it gets done. We were also much happier with the guys who came round, their politeness, everything we wanted they agreed to. It's only the matter of me being on AA that qualifies us, and I'm sure there are people like you who deserve it a lot more. But unfortunately it doesn't work like that, does it - if we said 'OK, we don't need it, give it to Lady_K instead' it wouldn't happen. And I'm darned sure that if we were being given the run-around that you are we would kick the lot into touch and get a local installer to do it.
I am so sorry - in theory it sounds such a good idea.

Thanx oh I'm sure it will turn out good in the end and I wouldnt be able to get it done any other way so I'm grateful for what they do. I havent really been waiting that long compared to many people so I'm not really complaining I was just surprised that kershaws said dont ring them as if theres any delays it will be on warmfronts part not thiers and they havent sent the quote off to warmfront themselves yet, without that it cant go further but at least I know its not going to be another 10-12 days before they actually send them the quote then warmfront have to act on that so I wont be hoping its them that ring each time the phone rings for at least another 3 weeks or prob more. It will be worth the wait though in the endThanx

Oh Lady_K I hope you get sorted soon. I was situation last year when although boiler worked it was temperamental. The heating is lovely now (sorry to make you jealous).
It will be worth it in the end, its just sometimes the end feels like forever.
From what I recall it took us from late October until February.
If you are still cold please get some temporary heating, it isn't worth you being cold, drink hot drinks and wear plenty of warm clothing, thin layers are better than one thick jumper apparently, as it traps air which can give better insulation.0 -
Thanx poppycat
Yes I'm doing all those things to keep going till its done. I noticed last night that my bathroom roller blinds are going mouldy too and if I'm not carefull I'll lose them aswell so as soon as I can get someone to help me take them down they will be better off stored away somewhere till its done. They have black mould spots growing on them and I don't think I can use dettox on those as the colour might get bleached out, I'll test a bit right at the top when they are unrolled before I do anything on parts that will show. My daughters bed has to be right up to the wall as its the only place it will go and its wet through I really dont know what to do about that but anyway fingers crossed once they recieve the quote things might nt take too long but I'm thinking that it will be after Christmas really by the looks of it.
I rang warmfront in late August to apply for it and the man came to assess me on Sept 6th then the installer came to do the quote on Oct 12th so really I haven't been waiting long it just seems a lonnng timedespite it all though at least I know whats due to be done, before the intaller came I was wondering if it would be mended or replaced I was really happy he said it would be replaced
Thanx
