helping_hubby Thanks for the tips. I'll have a look on the web. I did notice that there is a version of Photoshop that you can use online so I might have a go at that and see how I get on.0

Like the sound of NEGirl's lemon cake recipeWill be making that later in the week. Does anyone here use butter? There was an article on the news this morning about a group who are campaigning to ban the sale of it in the UK as it is so damaging to health. I always use butter as we like the taste and prefer using a more natural product than margarine. I don't use loads so don't see the problem and in all honesty think we have larger issues going on than banning butter. Rant over
x
I always use butter, wouldn't give margarine house room since I read an article that it's virtually one step away from Tupperware (although that's probably not true). I'd rather put something natural into my body than something chemically messed about with. Trans fats, hydrogenation, etc., in my opinion has to be at least as bad as butter. If I can find the article about it I'll post the relevant bits.
As long as you're sensible in your portions, a scrape on your sarnies rather than half an inch thick, a small amount with your baked spuds rather than half a pound, then I can't see the problem - moderation in all things, and all that! There's plenty of people who've lived to their 80s, 90s and even to 100 who grew up on butter.
I'll get off my soapbox now.
ETA: Found itBUTTER VERSES MARGARINE
DID YOU KNOW... The difference between margarine and butter?
Both have the same amount of calories Butter is slightly higher in saturated fats at 8 grams compared to 5 grams. Eating margarine can increase heart disease in women by 53% over eating the same amount of butter according to a recent Harvard Medical Study
Eating butter increases the absorption of many other nutrients in other foods Butter has many nutrional benefits where margarine has a few only because they are added! Butter tastes much better then margarine and it can enhance the flavours of other foods. Butter has been around for centuries where margarine has been around for less then 100 years Now for Margarine... very high in Trans Fatty Acids Triple risk of Coronary Heart Disease Increases total and LDL ( this is the bad cholesterol) Lowers HDL cholesterol * and this is the good one Increases the risk of cancers by up to five fold. Lowers quality of breast milk. Decreases immune response. Decreases insulin response.
And here is the most disturbing fact....
Margarine is but ONE MOLECULE from being PLASTIC...
( this fact alone was enough to have me avoiding margarine for life and anything else that is hydrogenated , this means hydrogen is added changing the molecular structure of the food )
YOU can try this yourself, purchase a tub of margarine and leave it in your garage or shaded area, within a couple of days you will note a couple of things, no flies, not even those pesky fruit flies will go near it,( that should tell you something) it does not rot, smell differently...Because it has no nutritional value, nothing will grow on it, even those teeny weeny microorganisms will not a find a home to grow...Why? because it is nearly plastic. Would you melt your tupperware and spread that on your toast?
Yuck!
I dare say there is as much evidence to discount this as there is for it. We have to make our own minds up, but I prefer natural.0 -

Tomsmum - There are 148 promarkers .... they are definately not cheap but they are lovely ... I sorted all mine out and have 98
That would be me, I'd end up wanting them all. If I made cards to sell then I'd probably start a collection, selling them would give me the cash for stash, but my cards are only for family and friends now so I wont go down that route :rotfl: .0 -
