TomsMum I have been looking at your other blog, what an amazing transformation of your house.. its lovely. Do you love near Criccieth? we have been holidaying there on and off for the past 30 years, its a beautiful part of the country.

We're not far from there Flourgirl, Criccieth's about an hour or so north of us. The scenery around here is fantastic.

Thanks for your kind words about the house. When we bought it the previous owner had done some amazingly awful DIY, and if you've read about the loft you'll know his handiwork would have eventually brought the house down . Still, it allowed us to negotiate a good price and we had very good builders and now have a lovely, cosy home with a great view :j.

Of course you can set the next challenge, looking forward to it!!! When we're organised we try and set a challenge at the beginning of a week and let it run for two weeks.

Oh thank you. So here it is, my Back To Basics Challenge. No sketch to follow, it can be anything but just go back to basics and be simple.

If you look at this post on my blog you'll see my card and why I wanted to make a simple one - it needed scanning not photographing, so couldn't be really 3D or with lots of embellishments.

Imagine you're just starting out with your card making and you haven't got much in your stash, see what you can do with the minimum amount of stuff.

    1) Try and use card stock that doesn't need covering with backing papers (but they're not excluded).

    2) Stick to just two or three things to put on, I put two - the stamped image and the ribbon.

That's it really. Hopefully there'll be lots of great ideas that will be inspiration for any newbies to card making who haven't yet built up their stash and are struggling for ideas. I think sometimes a newbie can feel overwhelmed by the cards experienced card makers come up with. It took me a very long time to show my cards when I first started out, I felt they weren't good enough compared to others in the gallery of the forum I joined.

Just link to your card on your blog or post on here, and it runs for two weeks from today.

Well - the kids are back in school today - hurrah!!! The snow seems to be gradually disappearing!! I've put a couple of cards on my blog - I'm not particularly keen on them, and there's a couple of pics of Elliot on there which are much better to look at:
    http://melissa75-melsmess.blogspot.com/

Lei-Armstrong - fab anniversary card - I love the champagne bottle and glasses!

Gemm - my Mum bought me a little sewing machine for xmas - I only really want it for stitching on cards - I've had a little play but I think its going to take a while before I'm any good on it!

Kim-Possible - great challenge cards - like you I want to try and enter more this year. Your glittery sheep is really cute, and your papers are really pretty!

Mary - glad to hear that you're feeling better!

NEgirl - I've had a look on your blog - and I'm so jealous - your creations are fabulous!! I love your cards - such a clever idea to use the punches on the card blanks themselves. I love those papertrey stamps too - I might be tempted to place a little order!!

Jazabelle - gorgeous cards - my favourite is the first one - you're right that flower is fabulous!!!

Marg - sorry to hear your card went wrong!!

Lyndach - that sounds horrendous - washing everything in the sink!!!

Louby - Lou-Lou - I can't believe little Harry is 4 weeks either, mind you I can't believe Elliot is 5 months now!

Tomsmum - your KISS card is really pretty - the embossing looks really effective.

Rainmac - that calendar thing looks fab!! I wanted to make a matchbox calendar but never got round to it. Kaisercraft do some gorgeous alterable things - I found this site that stocks a lot of their products - trouble is I don't know which I like the best:

What a gorgeous photo of Elliot, Melissa. I love your cards too, the one for the new baby girl is gorgeous.

I've become a follower of your blog - something I keep forgetting to do. I'll try to remember in future when I follow anybody's blog link.

    Hello all :j

    sally
OH had his endoscopy on Friday - (took him there in a wheelchair because of his sciatica) and they said he's got definitely one ulcer, and possible a second one, but they're not sure about it as it's in an unusual place and quite far down. So they won't know any more until he has his CT scan which is this Wednesday. Then we have to wait for 2 more weeks until he sees the consultant

Glad OH;s had his endoscopy and his CT scan not long to wait for. Don't know what it is with hospitals and '2 weeks' -we've have 2 weeks for appts., 2 weeks for test results......... Hope all goes well for him

ali - been scouring sites for basic grey paper to stroke....................lol -and to use.................maybe. Trouble is anything I find that I really love and is going cheap is out of stock

melissa -thanks for the link....................yet another site I can loose myself on for hours and hours and hours.......................lol

rainmac - covered another box today..........I'd got some paper with writing on it, perfect thought I, once I'd sorted it out in a 'random' fashion. Only a small box to pop some notelets in for my son.............(hint that he's no excuse for not writing especially if I put some stamps with it............be a change from the dreaded 'text speak'..............lol:rotfl:

Least the snow seems to have gone but OH says its still a bit dodgy underfoot plus my stomachs still a bit 'iffy' so can't see me going anywhere yet.
I would be unstoppable if only I could get started !

Tell me about it! They told my Gran she's critical and would be operated on within 2 weeks. 2 weeks later, still in the crappy discharge ward and she's been told they won't be doing it anytime soon as there's a backlog!!! x

mary- I got some from Crafty Charlie on e-bay. Then I am also waiting for some from the sale section at Craft Superstore - in my order I have a bundle of 20 12x12 papers for £2.99 they still had some in stock, and some other Basic Grey bits & pieces. Just had an email saying they have been despatched - yippee!!

lei - if your Grans critical is there someone you can complain to and make sure she gets seen ? Its disgusting that she's being treated like that x

Lei - At hospitals there is usually some kind of union/complaint place generally run by non hospital staff, you need to put in some kind of complaint!! Hope you get things sorted soon xx
