Hello everyone, you did read correctly, it is me, Lucy Lu!

I am so sorry I haven't been on here the last few months, I haven't had a good time of it, life has been pretty naff to be honest. I am trying to stay postive and one of my new year's resolutions is going to be to stay in the loop here if I'm still welcome.

I must also say a big thank you to Myz and Little Myz for my lovely Christmas card.

I hope everyone is having a lovely Christmas,

    Lucy x

    Hi Lucy,

Sending massive hugs to you, one thing I can say is that this last year has been so awfully carp for me for various reasons but please do come on here as without the lovely ladies on this thread I could never ever have got through it!! If there is anything I can do to help cheer you up please do shout!!

    Hiya Ladies

Long time no post but Christmas was a busy and fab time!

Loving the fact that people have already started making cards from the Sketch (thanks Rainmac) yep well done Padster and Ali b!

I am still making the most of the Christmas feeling and loving my trees, decorations, lights, Christmas films and staying up late and getting up late! I have to work again New Years Eve but then have several days off after that and the kids are back in school on Tuesday. We are away for a couple of nights between now and then so it will still feel like a holiday til the middle of next week I reckon.
Thanks for all the homemade Christmas cards I have had they really made my Christmas and I will post pics on my blog at some point.
I have had a great 2009 with you all on here and it is definite my fav thread and I also thank you all for sharing ideas, links to bargains (I'll spend your money for you Padster!) for your generosity in so many ways wot a fab bunch of friends you are. Long may it continue through 2010 xxx

Also does anyone have a bookatrix board?? Reason I ask is cause am I allowed to buy 1 bookatrix blank off someone if you do please?? I have never made one and thinking I might attempt it for MIL's birthday! please let me know, if not I shall go searching on ebay

Hi Rusty. Yes, I have a Bookatrix board but I see you've already been offered some blanks by Dragonllew (I get up late :rotfl: ). I put some Bookatrix cards on my blog yesterday although mine were for Christening/birth congrats so not the style you're probably thinking of. Have you googled Bookatrix card samples? I know the Glitter Girls used to have a gallery on their website, not sure if they still do as it's a very long time since I've been there. That would give you some ideas of style if you haven't yet got something in mind.

Anyway, if you have some specific card stock in mind and want me to score it for you, or whatever, PM me, but I might be a little late if you've already arranged something with Dragonllew.
  • So I'm new to card making, have always wanted to make my own cards, but I never seem to make anything that looks as good/professional as the cards you can buy.

My first task is to convert a thank you card that I already bought (29p...I'd say that was MSE enough!) into something a little more classy looking. Currently the top half of the card has a big glittery THANK YOU with one of those ForeverFriends stylee bears sitting on the top, and the bottom half has glittery flowers. It's quite colourful too...

So far I thought I could just use some subtly coloured paper or card and cut out a frame shape around the THANK YOU, to try and smarten it up and make it look a bit more "adult"?

Any other ideas? I don't have any of the fancy craft kits that I'm sure many of you have, just your basic coloured paper card, some ribbons, some stickers, and some shaped plastic confetti that I could easily glue on. I've also got some nice tissue paper and some wrapping paper, but not sure that would be of much help for a card that I'm trying to tone down and simplify!

I hope that it won't look really bad whatever I do to it...

and I suppose another option is to make a Thank You card from scratch, but I'm not sure my drawing could make it look good enough

    Hello ladies.

Im back after having a hectic month or so with moving and NO inernet. I havent doen any crafting as its still all packed away.

I would just like to say thank you to louby-lou-lou for my fab pressies.

My DF bought me loads of craft stuff for xmas, including loads of papers, nesties and loads of embossing folder for my cuttlebug.

Ive had a fab christmas and all my family loved their hampers with all the handmad stuff in, they never stopped calling all day saying i should go into business.

I sold 3 nappy cakes before xmas which i wasnt expecting as i only did one for me as i knew noone would by me one, then a friend came round saw it and bought 3 for her friends babies for xmas. So i was happy.

Im gonna start making 2010 xmas cards NOW, as i so ran out of time this year and had to shop buy a few.

I know this is cheating but i have bought a few packs of cards in the sale for like 10p a pack for 25 cards and im using my nesties to turn them into gift tags for next year. As i always need hundreds of them.

I so cant wait to catch up properly and get all my craft stuff out again - ive really missed it.

If someone could do me a quick re-cap pf what ive missed i'll be greatful.
:TIs thankful to those who have shared their :T
:T fortune with those less fortunate :T
:T than themselves - you know who you are!

mary - I was wondering if anyone recycles or cuts up their cards for toppers or gift tags etc??

Also can anyone recommend any strong glue or sticky things I am trying to make a card with ribbon round it and used glue dots but where I have taken the ribbon round the card at the back and inside cover it is popping up - should I use some pva glue (carefully!) or just try another glue dot - I am worried about cutting the ribbon up to the edges of the card incase it frays - what would you lot recommend??
