Hiya! I live in Guildford so not so far from you! Do you have a good craft shop near you?? Might be worth me takina a wee trip if there is one not much really in Guildford and Hobbycraft in Woking so I generally shop online. I went to tne NEC in MArch and I'm going this time so you would have people going from your 'neck of the woods' if you can ever join us!!

I went to Surrey Uni, and lived in Guildford for about 6 years. I started crafting while living in Godalming and I used to go to Notcutts in Cranleigh: http://www.notcutts.co.uk/Cranleigh/

Doesn't look like there's anything about the craft shop on there anymore though. Might be worth a call to see if it's still there.

There's a tiny one in Farnborough now, but not worth going out of your way for.

There's one in North Camp but not been inside, from driving past it looks chocca block full of stuff.

I will definitely consider the next NEC trip...be nice to travel up with someone else.

I can't get over how fast this thread moves :) I need to catch up on everyones blogs already!

It helps to have a little idea of what you will be needing stuff for, as its easier to buy stuff knowing its for a project rather than buying stuff then sitting there saying right what can i make with this lot especially as a newbie.

I would be lost without my hot glue gun. I use it with almost everything i make.

Scour ebay for auctions that have loads of different bits and bobs in for not a lot of money. That way you geta nice little variety of loads of different things.

Rummage through the sale or reductions sections in local craft shops, and have a look in the £ shop they sometimes have some nice bits in.

I spent a fortune on stamps, ink and embossing stuff but really dont like using them. I tend to just print stuff of the computer instead.

I only have an A4 sized cutting mat which is big enough for me so far, but i use a spare piece of conti board (the same stuff kichen cupboards are made out of) to put on the desk / table to protect it cos i get glue, paint etc everywhere.

I really really really want a score-pal though. (hint hint father christmas)
:TIs thankful to those who have shared their :T
:T fortune with those less fortunate :T
:T than themselves - you know who you are!

  • I made this card for my friend's Birthday yesterday.

I don't actually have any sentiments stamps, so I think it looks a bit plain but she seemed pleased with it.

I was going to make a box of cards for my MIL...still haven't got round to it, but thanks for reminding me :) I was going to put a book of stamps in it, maybe a "birthday book" or a planner inside the box lid to write the names of everyones birthdays etc, and maybe some stickers with her address on to stick on the envelopes.

//Edit - imo the box idea is for those times when you forget to buy a card and need one last minute, so I was planning on making at least 1 card for each occassion I could think of, eg wedding, female birthday, male birthday, kids birthday, anniversary, thank you, etc etc
