I am making a ruby card for in -laws i was going to make an arty farty cake but i haven't the time now so i have red a A4 card once folded but the silly stall didn't have envelopes so i need a A4 envelope. I am thinking i will just have to use a brown postal one and tart it up a bit. It is going to take me ages to make as i want to put a champagne bottle on the front with there pic on it. I have found a template for the bottle but the trick will be actually making it look like a bottle of champagne. As much as i love doing cards i am not really that arty.
congrats skiergirl :T
Louby, Tesco sell white A4 envelopes, I bought a pack last week:wave: If you want the rainbow, you've got to put up with the rain :wave:0 -
Hi, ladies ( & any gents!), I have decided to have a go at making my own cards, and getting a bit of brain drain as been reading through the various forums, and getting totally confused on how to start - have bought a couple of mags. but they dont seem to have an absolute beginners guide, I was wondering if anyone could give an idea as to how to get started I have got a list of bits I need i.e. scissors, card etc. but which glue is best and how do stamps work - do you colour them in? Or is a lot of the work done on computer. Do you just stick the patterned paper to the blank card?? Hope this makes sense:rolleyes: Sorry its a long post any ideas/suggestions are welcome. All your card pictures have truly inspired me as they are all beautiful - just hope I can be as good. Thanking you all in advance.:o
I think it all really depends on what kind of cards you want to make, do you want to use a computer or not etc. You will need basics such as card, envelopes, glue (I tend to use double sided tape and glue dots) and scissors.
If you want to use your pc to print images and papers, there are lots of lovely stuff available to download for free here. Scroll down sidebar on the right hand side
I would maybe try and immitate a card in a magazine and see how you get on? If you want the rainbow, you've got to put up with the rain :wave:0 -
Hello & welcome Ali B 123 - I think the bottom line is we all do it differently which is why it is confusing. I feel more comfortable doing things on the PC 'cos I'm a bit heavy handed but I keep trying.
Yes - we stick paper to cards to get backgrounds - I mostly use double sided tape as glue can be too wet & make the paper wrinkle.
I can't help with stamping as I haven't got the knack but yes, you can colour them in.
Card making is addictive but if I were you I'd start slowly, get some card blanks and some images or embelishments you like the look of and see how you get on.
Remember - if you get stuck there's usually someone on here with the answer!0 -

good afternoon all! right here goes for the next challenge, this is my first time setting one so I hope it's ok for you all!!
This fortnight's theme is..... Stitching!!!
This means to show some sort of stitching on your card, either real or imitation (e.g. using a pen to show stitches) or even maybe sewing beads on perhaps
I'll be keeping track of entries and drawing a name out of the hat in 2 weeks for a small prize!
Have fun all and can't wait to see what you come up with!0 -
