The last time I went to the cinema in the West End, it cost a staggering £11/ticket. I don’t go to the cinema very often these days (not that surprising at these prices), but I love the occasional film, and it’s a great excuse to catch up with friends.
I’ve been thinking about getting an Orange SIM card to access Orange Wednesdays (where you get a free ticket for every full price one) for some time, and now, I’ve finally done something about it.
The cheapest PAYG in the Orange Online Shop is the Nokia 1661@ £10, plus £10 top-up. Buying through Topcashback gave me £5 cashback, making a net initial outlay of £15.
I know that probably I could have got my existing Nokia handset unlocked to accept Orange SIMs for less than this, and that the balance could have been put towards my next overpayment, but I didn’t want the fuss and I’d be almost certain to mislay my main SIM card when taking it out!!
So now I’m waiting for my order to arrive and checking out the cinema listings for next week.

First monthly payment to the mortgage of £750 now made. The balance is in the course of circulation around my accounts requiring a £1,000 monthly credit (Halifax, A&L), before being paid in a few days time...

Another £1,000 towards this month's payment
However, I notice my Halifax Reward accounts have not credited my £5 this month - I wonder if MoneyQueen's warning about circulating money straight from one to another was correct...?
Doubtless I'll find out tomorrow!

Hi Queen-Bee,
Just checked, mine have been paid okay. But £5 were not there last night when I checked, but they seem to be credited on 1st Feb... Strange

Like MoneyQueen, my 3x Halifax Reward accounts have now been credited with £15 and backdated to 1 February.
So far, they've yielded £90, just for circulating £1,000 through them once a month...
This is a return equivalent to putting £6,000 on deposit for 6 months @ 3%. Actually, a bit more, 'cos the Halifax reward is paid net of tax. Not bad eh?

Another £1,000 off the mortgage. None of this month's payments have hit the on-line account yet, but I reckon I ought to be below £50k now... :j
However, last night I arrived home and found no heat and no hot water. My goodness it was cold
I got onto British Gas immediately, and they came round first thing this morning to take a look at what I'd assumed to be a faulty boiler. But it turned out to be the fault of some Polish builders, who are currently gutting the house next door to mine. A couple of days ago they took off the roof and threw plastic sheeting across the back of the house... and the outlet to my boiler flue....
It's good to know the boiler's not packed up, but I'm not happy at having to pay a £50 call out fee because of someone else's carelessness!!

This month's final £1,250 payment now made... I see that the first two payments have now hit my account and the total is now sub £50k for the first time. :j
