@shaz77
bc3000's mentioned Tesco bonus credit is similar - the bonus credit expires after 1 month.
All the networks now do this on PAYG, checkout Orange too - last time I saw they were offering £10 free credit to transfer your number to them (advertised inside a free SIM i ordered) and you can benefit from Orange Wednesdays0 -
I'm going to go with "02 Anytime" but I wanted to clarify a number of points before I sign up for it:
1: Would I still get the 10% cash back offer if I signed up for this?
2. If I topped up £10 in August, but not in September but then again in October, would I qualify for the free texts both in August and October?
3. Are their any downsides to this offer that I should be aware of?
Thanks in advance.0 -

According to the o2 website you would need to top £10 per month to get the free texts and be part of their anytime deal .
If you were texting at the rate you said you were you would be using your £10 allowance every month anyway- without making any calls .
You will probably be realistically topping up £15-£20 a month as the other Op said .
As 10 texts a day would be roughily 310 a month- which would be just over your allowance but covered by your call credit. However 15 texts a day is 450 texts and leaves you 150 texts to pay for and any calls on top off that which will really push you over- leaving you more to top up on.
I think its easy to underestimate how much you will spend and thats where companies make their money with pay as you go.
The £15 anytime top up would give you 500 texts a month and leave you £15 for calls -more than enough plus you would get the 10% cashback. This would mean it was actually costing you £13.50 a month.
And would still be saving you on what you are paying at the moment.
I think the downside for this deal is you need to regularily top up to get the offer .Maybe give o2 a phone and see what they advise 08442 020202.0 -
Thanks for that, I opted for Text Anytime and I was sent the following text:
Thank you for your request, your free monthly allowance will be changed to Text Anytime on your next anniversary date.
Does this mean that my free texts wont begin until I top up again?0 -
Anniversary date is the the day of the month that you first topped up. So for example top up for the first time today then your anniversary date will be the 9th of each month. Thanks for that, I opted for Text Anytime and I was sent the following text:

You are on the tariff that came with your SIM for the first month then on the anniversary you will get the allowance equal to top ups made in the month before the anniversary date. i.e allowance given on 9th September would be what you have earned by topping up between 9th Aug and 8th Sept.
If you don't top up at all in a month then your anniversary date will change to when you next top up.0 -

So it will be next month before I receive the free texts? I last topped up yesterday I assume that will not count for anything.0 -

This months top up will count to the allowance you get next month, that is how it works.
Yes, you are on the tariff that came with the SIM until the anniversary. Most SIMs I think come with Favourite Place. If you text a lot you could buy a bolt-on that would cut the cost in the first month. They auto-renew each month, but they will warn you a few days before charging so you can then cancel.

I just recently changed from PAYG to Pay monthly, purely to stop wasting money. I normally use £25-£40 a month on my very ... very old phone on PAYG.
Now I have a brand spanking new phone, with unlimited emails, internet, texts, and 300 minutes per month, plus free skype to skype calls forever on an 18 month contract. Its absolutely perfect for me for only £20 a month.
18months isn't very long when your my age lol0 -
