There was a story on the BBC news this morning about a lady who went shopping in Sainsbury's with her 14 year old grandson.
She was informed that he was not "allowed" to carry her shopping because there was a bottle of wine in it !!!!0 -

Did not see the BBC this morning but
If they had paid and were leaving , should have told the 'jobsworth '
were to go.
Wonder if then they were detained what the legal argument would have been??0 -
I have heard if you touch alcohol,it makes you drunk,is this true?0

asda regular refuse to serve my 25 year old son alcohol. has his own business and house. and doesnt look underage. they even refused to serve him with scissors. my other 28 year old son travels the country with his job and has a business account with premier inns,he was refused a pint of beer with his dinner by an assistant manager, he had to get someone from his office to fax them to prove he was not underage much to his companys amusement.0

So similar to my Tesco experience where they wouldnt let my 12 year old DD hold a lottery ticket while I sorted my bags out :mad:0 -

A correction ? The paper today said ASDA - I'm sure the Beeb said Sainsbury's ! But they both agreed that it happened in Bournemouth.0 -
I went to our local TESCO last night with my g/f (she's 22). we bought a 4 pack of beer and we were ID'd at the till point, that's nothing new with stores these days, but here is my annoyance, my g/f has a twin sister who works at the same TESCO store and works on the tills; the woman that id'd her is her sisters direct team leader and knows that who they both are and how old they are.
This isn't the end of the story though, as we were on a self service till she insisted on seeing the ID card again and entering my g/f's date of birth into the till computer system. I'm sure this must be a data protection act problem too as we used my clubcard to get the points but her DOB must now be registered with this card or on a data base somewhere as it doesn't appear on the reciept at all.
Has anyone had this experience with any of the supermarkets?0 -

a way to go about this is to go to 2 different checkouts, your gf pays for 1 or items at 1 till and you pay for the alcohol0
