Just to add I would bet your mum is worried about you already. If you've put on a lot of weight and are drinking too much, mums spot that sort of thing. My guess is she'll be relieved it's *only* debt rather than a more serious problem with your health or something.

Also on the SOA you could make a start on it with what you know and then add to it, if doing it all together feels overwhelming.

You've taken a big step by coming on here well done!!

  • Hi Flamingobroke,

You have no need to feel ashamed or embarrassed - there so are many people in your position, more than you or I ever realised. Finding this forum is one of the best things you could have done, as now you won't feel so alone coping with your debts. I owe £38k and am a similar age to you, and felt incredibly alone until I came here. Reading through the threads and various people's stories I realised that I won't be the first, or the last, in this position, and that I can survive it! There are so many people to help you or just lend an ear. I hope it all gets better for you from now on. It seems huge right now but just take things one step at a time and you'll start to see a way through.

    Best wishes, YP x
