The P4U website however states that 0800 calls can be made as part of your monthly allowance of minutes.

So which service provider do P4U use for O2 connections these days? If they are connecting directly with O2 then the Ts and Cs for the tariff should be the same as if you went straight to the network.

I work for Phones 4 U and the o2 we sell don't include 0800 in the free minutes so I was just assuming that all hi street retailers would be the same (except possibly cpw as they do their own billing) But then again there are like 70+ different providers for o2 so it would pay to read the T&C's for any o2 deal as I'm sure they would be slightly different in some aspects for different companies :)

Not sure about o2 online but like I said I can only say that P4U o2 definately doesnt :)

The differences are the different airtime distributors for o2, o2 sell the time to them. They then distribute the airtime to the companies that sell the phones which is what causes the differences in what you get free in your tariff. But usually the differences are very minor. Thats what I found out in my first year in p4u when a computer error labelled me as a online customer even though I bought it in store. Because of that whenever I rang up people got confused as to who's customer services I belonged to and kept passing me around when all I wanted to do was block a lost sim card
The important thing to learn is to read and ask questions directly with the company your dealing with and have a look at their T&Cs to try and establish the latest facts!
