I'm sorry but if Holly wants to go to her local pub and is lucky enough to be able to save a bit of money on it then I don't see how that means that EVERYONE suffers.

If you don't want to do the jobs then don't sign up to them but you have no right to say that others shouldn't take the jobs. Afterall those of us who take them only lose our time and not money. So as far as I'm concerned it's still money towards the overdraft and also an evening out.

Your inexperience (and others on this thread) in Mystery shopping is exactly what RE is looking for.

What you fail to realise is that RE undercuts other good Ms Companies to get the business.
Other companies used to have quite a lot of the RE jobs and they paid a decent fee, mileage and did not ask 100's of inane Q's

RE then pay (if your lucky) well under minimum wage for the work and the ask an inordinate number of repetetive questions.

The other MS Companies then go to the wall and eventually there will be be only RE who will (I'm sure) ask you to pay to Mystery shop

Everyone suffers because others can't see the big picture.

If you are that desparate for money then go and sell the Big issue on the street corner-bettr pay and you get to meet lots of people.:D

I dont think any of us should judge, or indeed comment, on whether or not somebody is in a 'poor position'. I personally wouldn't do these jobs as I live in a rural area, and the travel costs would far outweigh the free drink and small fee, but if I lived within walking distance of at least a couple of them, and was going out anyway, then I might think again. It all comes down to personal choice. That's why the jobs are self allocation.

    I agree with this completely.

Whilst it would be nice if EVERYBODY boycotted these jobs, to be perfectly honest, if it was my local, and I was going to go out anyway, why shouldn't I take the job? Hope KaramelRose has a lovely evening.

By the way, I wish some people would stop 'talking' in these condescending tones, and berating other shoppers like naughty school children. It clearly states with every MS company I have ever applied for, that if you are looking to become rich through MS'ing, then don't bother applying. People do this job for different reasons.

.. and I know RE pay awful fees sometimes, and their questionnaires are a nightmare, but it is majority rule I guess, and we are just a tiny drop in the ocean of their '450,000' shoppers.

Well said, and thank you. It is sad that on occasions someone feels they have the right to try and belittle others.
I think the subject should be laid to rest now, I for one don't need anyone telling me how to conduct my MSing and if I need advice I know who to ask on this board.
A big thank you to all the lovely people I have met here over the past few months, that in itself is one of the pleasures of MSing for me.
Good luck to all of you who MS for whatever reason that may be.

I was one of the people who suggested boycotting these jobs. I won't think bad of anyone who does them anyway, however personally I won't bother (even if I was going there anyway) as my small personal protest.

That 400,000 shoppers thing is nonsense. Although RE claim to have that many, I suspect many of them aren't active. How many of them signed up, did one job and thought "never again"? Or even never managed to get off probation? Or signed up for RE but rarely/never works for them.

My hope is that RE will realise if they want reliable shoppers, they will have to pay proper fees. We are all aware from posts on this thread that RE have started calling shoppers to check they are still going, or that the job was done.
    Happy New Year

I am sorry that you are in such a poor position that you see that as your night out, 1 free drink each and £4 below minimum wage for filling in the massive report that awaits your return from the pub.If only my night out was so cheap. Ill guess and say you might have a second and a 3rd drink in the pub giving you the unfortunate position of actually being out of pocket, should have stayed in and saved money instead lol.Its the knock on effect and the larger picture that you are either blind to or dont care about.

    Rude and uncalled for.

I am really annoyed about ageism with MS. Anyone else feel the same?

How dare you make assumptions about my personal financial situation and then have the audacity to post about it on a public forum in an attempt to make me look bad! You don't know anything about me so in future I expect you to keep your unfounded assumptions to yourself.

We had quite a lengthy discussion about this a few pages back. Why would anyone over 40 need a mobile phone, why would anyone over 30 want to go out in the evening and god forbid a person over 25 eating an underground sandwich - whatever next eh !!

Me too, I'm too young for a couple of plces that I'd like to MS, which is ridiculous, as I've been to these places several times in the past, and other customers were all around the same age as me.
