If you only see them when in FaceBook then as I strongly suspected it is very unlikley that you have a virus. It is just a case of the site serving ads in a way that circumvents your popup blocker.

Changing your FaceBook login is very unlikely indeed to have any effect.

You can either quit using facebook, put up with the ads, or improve on whatever you are using to block popups. FireFox with the AdBlock Plus addon is pretty good but it doesn't block everything using the default filters. It can be tweaked manually but I'm not volunteering to go through that particular exercise with a novice - you could get lucky with somebody else though.

All that said it is probably still worth running the scans mentioned to make sure. Just don't get paranoid and install umpteen of the things and have them running all the time or they'll chew up all your machine resource.

For what it's worth - I use FB a lot, and I've never had any popups.
Unless you're dabbling with some cheap and nasty FB apps, I don't think they should be happening.

You should really read up on proper grammar and spelling.

Upon the matter of greenhouse dwellers and the wisdom of hurling rocks...

Okay Andy, let's try and count. You first. One, two, three... Four! That's right. I suggested 4 things to install. Each doing seperate jobs, each the best in their respective field.

What are you on about?! When the anti-virus finds a virus you know it was a VIRUS. When the anti-malware finds malware, you know it was MALWARE. It's not hard.

I don't but go on with your pointless story.
So just because your brothers friend didn't bother to check which updates were ticked for install you now don't recommend obtaining important security updates from Microsoft? You can't be THAT dumb surely?

Let me tell that to the patching team at work who patch an enterprise environment of 500 servers. Hey guys. We don't need to patch any more. Some guy on a forum said it'll break all the servers. GET REAL!

    :o

The words "pot", "kettle" and "black" come to mind.

Don't laugh at banana republics. :rotfl:

As a result of how you voted in the last three General Elections,
you'd now be better off living in one.

    Erm.....

    You know those Facebook Apps?

Do you realise (most people don't), that most of them aren't run or created by Facebook?
I never use them, some are like Virus's, they get your contact details and try to get your friend to sign up, they give you popup windows, they ask for personal information.... etc etc
    They're a nuisance!
