    hello everyone!

i listed the items and sold about half of them. i have relisted the rest and will see if they sell.

i have see some more items for sale on the wholesale website which i will list on ebay and see how it goes.

i have been looking at renting a small stall in a local shopping place to sell the clothes. i think it could be a good little money spinner as long as you pick the right items.

I noticed that picking is imperative to success. I have been looking mainly at character items - thanks for the update!

With relisting if they don't sell this time you'll be paying the fee twice correct? surely after tax and fees this is a break even point rather than a proft?

There's less than £2 profit in each item assuming it sells at £9.99 each time. If an item is relisted and it sells on the second attempt then the basic relist credit is refunded on the second sale, if it doesn't sell then both sets of listing fees are payable. I had assumed a straight auction costing 25p to list so not too expensive as long as it does sell on that second attempt.

FVFs for a business are 8.75% but of course tax is payable on the net profit.

There is also paypal cut which isn't cheap unfortunately.

Paypal are robbers - they know that they are the only people verified by ebay so they can get away with charging high. I wish there was another company out there although I suppose paypal has to make thier money some way or another

You can still offer other payment methods as well as paypal on ebay, unfortunately buyers just use paypal so we are stuck with it as sellers.

Thats a real shame isn't it, I remember a few years back another payment method tried to make its way through but not many people used it.

What sites are you all ordering your wholesale goods at? I would love to know so I can take a peek.
  • We took the plunge about 2 weeks ago and ordered £550 worth of stock from a variety of clothing sites including the one mentioned in this thread.

Our idea was to sell at bootsales and very reasonable prices. The idea was to sell a lot for a little, rather then a little for a lot.

We did our first bootfair last Saturday and made -£3.50! Only sold £6.50 worth of clothing and had to pay £10 for the pitch.

Were hoping it was because the bootfair isnt a regular one and was quite small, however not really a great way to start!

Weve got another on tomorrow and on on Saturday and Sunday to see how it goes. Failing that weve been looking at market pitches, however most require you to have your own actual market stall - weve only got a table and 2 x proper clothes rails.

Weve also set up a website listing the stock with payment options, however not having much luck getting hits at the moment!

Ebay isnt really an option. Time you take listing fees, final value fees, paypal fees etc we would only make pennies.

Lesson learnt - Dont rush in!
  • I have looked into dropshipping before, but somehow never got round to it.
