They seem a little dear though compared to current sale prices as you've got VAT to add, card surcharge and £12 delivery and of course this line:

These goods are sold on the condition that all chainstore and brand name labels and trademarks are removed before they are offered for sale, and that they will not be advertised.

means that you won't get the buyers if you are planning to try ebay or such like.

i paid £112 for 17 dresses (including vat and p&p) from q clothing. it's free delivery if you spend over £150 so if it works out i will do that next time and save £10.

this work out at £6.60 per dress i will try to sell them at £9.99 (this is £3/£4 less than other sellers are selling same dresses for). I will add p&p at £2.50 (about average compared to other sellers). accorrding to my calculation i will make around £3 per dress if they sell for starting price.

this is £51 profit after paypal and ebay fees and postage. not bad for a £112 initial outlay if they all sell.

i will list them in the same way as other sellers ie - ex topshop and state that labels have been removed like the other successful sellers do.
  • Good luck pebblespop, really hope its successful for you. I'm really interested to see how you get on x

Hopefully they will go at more than £9.99 if you put them on auction as your fees on a £9.99 sale will be approx £1.25 for ebay approx 70p to paypal which leaves you with £1.44 and then of course you have tax to pay to HMRC as a sole trader. As a business you will need some margin for returns as of course your buyers will be able to return anything to you and recover their initial costs, which means you lose outward postage.

I've seen too many people overestimate their profit on ebay and I would urge you to work out your margins before you list your items. Get them listed quickly though as your competitors will undercut you as soon as they notice you and try and force you out of business, but don#t go too cheap as you'll make a loss.

EDIT: just to add, that is a very tight profit margin you are working with, my last line that lasted around 6 weeks before the prices dropped and I couldn't compete, I was buying in at £3 and turning out at around £9 in the height of the sales. Once that dropped to around the £6 mark I was barely breaking even and pulled out. Even that margin would have regulars of the ebay board laughing at me for keeping things too tight and not allowing a margin of error.

  • Anyone interested in selling cheap babywear should have a wander down New Road in East London. Have a look in the plethora of wholesalers there, try Danny's for better stuff, SM Fashions for cheaper and Junior Kids for something in the middle.

    do the straighteners look fake?

how can someone on an internet forum tell you your items are fake without seeing them?

    this sounds strange to me....

have you taken delivery of the straighteners? did you have to pay import tax?

Unless the website is on ghds official list they are probably not genuine....
