Morning Everyone
Its another truly gruesome day here.I was awoken by the rain lashing against the bedroom window and it hasnt improved any yet:mad:The garden is like a paddy field and I have loads of veggie seedlings that need to go in but cant till OH finishes my new raised bed and he cant do that with the garden so wet and the rain still falling:mad:.I seem to be fighting a constant battle with those pesky cabbage white butterflies.I was pegging the washing out yesterday and one fluttered down onto my cauli plants and I swear in less than the second it took to shoo the damn thing off it had laid an egg:eek:I wish human birthing was so quick and easy:rotfl:
On a domestic note I've just picked up 9 rolls of lovely wallpaper from a fab freecycler so thats saved me a small fortune and its a nice pattern for my dining room too:D.OH is laying the new laminate flooring in the living room tomorrow so need to get as much out of the room today so he doesnt growl at me too much tomorrow when he gets started;)
Diva-Say hello to Tristan from me next time you speak to him.I feel like after all these months of reading your posts that I know him.By the way you found a new car yet?
PP-Been proper busy this past week so might have missed your posts but cant remember reading any so hope things are fine and dandy with you at the moment
FE-Morning sickness is a surge of progesterone in the blood stream and thats what causes the nausea, women who have problem pregnancies tend to have low progesterone levels so as much as its truly horrid feeling sick at the time at least LO is making him/herself nice and snug and comfy.I had terrible morning sickness with YD and I lived next to an asian couple and it was Ramadan so I had to suffer the house full of curry smells from 5am every morning.I've never felt so sick in my life:o
Halight-Hows the appeal going? You heard anything yet?I know these things drag on but your case is just appalling as you should never have been classed as fit for work in the first case
Bitsy-Sorry to hear your littlies are proper poorly.I hope they recover really soon as I hate mine being poorly as they seem so helpless and vulnerable
Mioliere-It sounds great there where you are and considering the weather we are having here in Lancashire at the moment.Do you fancy a lodger?:rotfl:I can cook clean and any general skivvying just as long as I can get a little sun on my back before winter sets in:rotfl:

Doesn't look like there'll be much cricket today. Shame we were giving the Aussies what for:D
Fortunately I haven't got much laundry to do today so should get it all hung around the house.
Lunch will be leftover watercress soup and leftover chicken liver pate with toast.
Tea will be stovies made from the meat from my pork hocks which I cooked yesterday.
I will do a pudding of some sort. I have lots of berries in the freezer. Wonder if I can get OH to go and get me some nice cream.
Talking of cream I made a pavlova for DS1's b'day on Tues. The farmshop only had whipping cream so I used that- I've never used it before. What a disappointment:( It has no taste - just white froth, not even a creamy colour. The double cream I get from the farmshop especially in the summer is so thick and yellow it whips in seconds and has real flavour and a luscious texture.
Bitsy, sorry to hear your little ones are sick. Maybe it isn't the rotten swine but just a summer cold. How do you know the difference and how do you know that it isn't just ordinary flu?0 -
Morning all
Not been on for a few days as with the kids off find it hard to get on the puter
We have picked up the new car today and my nerves were bad

Looks a bit odd outside ,not sure if its going to rain or not .Just done another cupboard list for my tinned food cupboard. Its really quite amazing what you find when you root through the cupboards. Why I wonder have I got 8 tins of baked beean I only eat them once in a blue moon, and I can't even remember buying a tin of red Papaya chunks, not even sure why I bought them, but they will be eaten up over the week-end thats for sure, wonder what they taste like ?
I only have three more food cupboards to sort through and list the contents.
its quite a novelty finding all these things I must have bought them back when I would just whizz through the supermarket lobbing odd tins of this and that into the trolley .I am going to have some strange meals over the next few weeks to use them up I think .Now I wonder if I could fancy Sardines on toast followed by mandarin oranges for lunch ???.
Off to DDs this evening for our 'family night ' of cards with the boys. I can't believe its the first of August already ,never mind only 145 more days until Christmas
Have a good one everyone
Cheers JackieO xx0 -
Morning everyone :hello:
The DIY's going fine thanks for asking but it does seem to make poor OH very tired so he's gone for a little sleep.
Lovely sunshine here this morning
and I have had my coffee in the garden and fed the fish and the birds and read my gardening magazine. Just about to do smoked salmon and scrambled eggs for brekkie then walk the doggie down to the harbour to see the pod of dolphins which have taken up residence. Will pop into the continental market on the way home for some bread and maybe a quiche for lunch.
Some laundry to do and ironing to put away and then I want to clear out the dresser in the kitchen as it's been bugging me.
No idea what's for tea tonight. Depends on my appetitie.
Get well soon vibes to Marie and Bitsy's little ones. xxx
Hope the rain eases soon Lesley.
Have fun everyone

Hi everyone,
Taplady and Marie, I hope you are both feeling a bit better.
Bitsy, sorry your littlies and well...it's difficult when two go down with the same thing at the same time.
Anniestar, belated birthday wishes. I hope you had a good day!
We took Tilly (the cat) to the vets last night to get her anual booster and while I was there the vet offered to do her flea and worming treatment. Whilst I was paying at reception, the vet came out and grabbed the second vial he'd given me to use next month out of my hand and muttered something about having given me the wrong one. I didn't think any more about it at the time. When we got home she seemed unwell, walking very gingerly, not able to jump but we assumed she was just traumatised by the whole thing. This morning however she was totally lethargic, off her food, pupils dilated and could barely walk at all. I looked again at the invoice and the idiot has given her flea and worming treatment for large dogs! So straight down to the vets again this morning and saw the head of the practice who has given her a sedative and said to leave her alone for 24 hours and 'hopefully' she'll recover. I am so cross! I hope he gives the young vet a good rollicking!
Anyway she's comfortable now and seems to be sleeping it off. Poor little mite. I've been out in the garden and decided to dig up the garlic. I had done a little experiment and tried using a variety specially for growing and some cloves from the supermarket. The supermarket cloves have won and are far bigger and plumper than the solent wight.
This afternoon is shopping for bits and pieces for the holiday. I hate shopping for clothes so I'm making soup and crusty bread now for tea in case we're late back, otherwise I know I'd talk myself into a takeaway.
Hope you're having a good day.
