    Are you sure about that? I think they do, pretty much everywhere does as the networks subisdise pay as you go phones so they don't like you taking it over to another network. Plus Carphone sell unlocked phones (normally for another £30 or so on top) so I don't think they would provide that option if all their phones were unlocked anyway...

    I've had 5 contract phones from Dialaphone which have been open to all networks.

    the LG KM900 Arena is getting close to that price for an 18 month contract and hardware wise its superior to the iphone (1) but the isnt that customizable, likely not much of problem for you.


    (1) higher rezolution screen, better camera, more connectivity such as fm transmitters to use your phone to play music on the car radio etc

    It was the case a few months ago, they buy in such numbers that the phones are unlocked. As for them selling the unlocked phones for a little more, I think they may have to offer them contractually such as the networks do for a premium.
