A 50ml Boots Expert Heat Protect Taming Serum used up today - very good in my opinion for £2.49 opposed to the more expensive products I have used. I used it on my wet hair then dried it and it worked well. much nicer than the v.expensive Philosophy Serum I had that just greasified my hair.

Brand downshifting and bargain hunting is working for me!

    More used up items

50ml Johnsons 24hr moisturiser bought on offer for £2.49 and used as a neck cream - it was ok as a cream funnily enough, I was worried about using it on my face due to my label and price snobbery! Prefectly ok, esp if can find it on offer

5ml Decleor Angelique Aromessence, bit heavy for my skin but used to counteract the summer dehydration! Used up and gone now, back to the usual aromessences from now!

I might give the Boots taming serum a go too when I run out of John Frieda.
I'm doing much better than expected on stopping Diet Coke. I didn't think I can do it but I've been so sick for the last few weeks I really haven't wanted to drink it much and when I have it just tastes quite chemically! I've still got some stocks so with the odd can here and there I will hopefully make it through. Still haven't bought magazines, clothes or more toiletries or cleaning products. Haven't done so well with the positive changes but still doing well with them considering I've been ill. Lets hope these will turn into good habits by the end of the challenge!

One thing i really like about this cahellenge is it really makes me think about whether i love a product or not. As if Im running out of something whether im pleased or a bit anxious and want to make it last.As well as this challenge I am also doing another personal challenge where i have to use up 10 moisturisers before i buy anymore (Iknow its very wrong i have that many) and 10 cleansers/facial wipes, 10 body moisturisers and 10 haircare products. I started in July and have so far only used 5 products up of the 40 and so will not be buying anymore of these different things for a good while. Interestingly there has only been 1 product that I really will miss a lot when its finished, so its shown me that a lot of products are pretty much the same as each other. Ok enough rambling ciao:rolleyes:

  • Well done everyone! Sounds like it is going well. I have used up a few more things (can't remember which ones!)

I have failed a couple of time last week. QVC sent me a sample of the new Elemis Serum to try which I did and surprisingly I noticed a difference and then struggled all day with buying it as the TSV. Caved in and bought it, I think it has made a difference but I don't think I would have bought it if I hadn't received a sample. I had no plans to bother with the TSV.

Is this a tricky new way of QVC getting more business?

Anyway balancing the good with the bad, move onto the good now.

I am putting together a pamper hamper for my mum for Christmas and I have sorted through all my stash and put loads in there for her to try out of anti ageing products and a complete hair care system. I have bought quite a bit of the Dove Pro Age products for her which she loves and have been on offer at half price in Mr S.

I was going to ebay some of these things but have decided to give them away for Christmas. Anyway the hamper is huuuuge, hope she likes it!

Probably is another ploy by QVC to get some sales..... I haven't had any yet, but they have obviously noticed how little you buy now!:rotfl:

I know yo're making a hamper, but can you put some of the more expensive stuff like Elemis onto eBay, even if you just recoup a few £££...?

Haven't bought anything else except essentials since the last time I was on here... in fact, I think I hardly have anything in my stash other than my regular products.... Today's job is to clear out the whole cupboard (there are also Christmas presents in there and I need to see what's what), so I will see whats still left :)

Day 44 and still going strong :D

  • Woo hoo, have used up a hair mousse and a toothpaste! Still not updated my toiletry list but even I can see I still have loads to use up. My Clinique facial soap is everylasting but can't bring myself to throw it out, so will just keep a it.
  • Hi all,

I'm very proud of myself today! Still not bought any toiletries or clothes, but came close to buying a fringe top from Next that sister had ordered. It was lovely with black leggings and sandals but I started thinking about what jacket do I wear, what if I catch the fringing etc., so I didn't buy it! Instead I dug out something I already have and will wear that to my next nite out! Go me!
