popped down today (Aldi, wakefield) and sadly there was only Kiwi plants left, so bought one but it doesnt give a variety or much more info. stuck in the ground though now and fingers crossed.0

I've been lucky enough to get some Aldi fruit plants - went a bit mad and bought kiwi, grape, blueberry, loganberry, pomegranet and fig. I have a greenhouse and know I can put the grape in there, does anyone have experience of growing any of the others, I've read the fig advice above which is very helpful! I'm not sure what else I can put in the greenhouse and also I'm hoping to keep them in pots for a bit, but wonder if I need special soil etc. All a bit of trial and error I guess! :-)0

I went to Aldi at 9.00 am yesterday and all that was left was Gojiberry - I was very disappointed.0

Did anyone else pick up a kiwi fruit, and if so, how are the leaves? I ask because all the kiwis in our branch looked like they might have a virus or something equally nasty. The leaves are speckled with yellow and white and some are black at the edges ... Bought one anyway coz who can resist a bargain, but I am a bit worried about it having something catching.0

mine didnt have those symptons. a smaller leaf to the one I grew from seed (infact differrent leaf type altogether (slim and longish shape)), the leaves were a little shrivelled but I put that down to being in a shop. It is now in the ground outside, planted next to a garage. so it now has 2 choices, live or die, but I will edge my bets on the former.0

Thanks for this I managed to get some yesterday morning, picked up a red gooseberry, a kiwi, a tayberry and a cranberry. Just got to find the right spots to plant them in now!0

Kiwi are "sexed" normally, you need male & female plants, like holly bushes
So unless it is a self fertile variety they are selling you may be in for a disappointmentNumerus non sum0

Very true Farway, and the plants sold by Aldi had absolutely no clue about variety let alone sex. However, as I've already got a self-fertile Jenny, I'm just sort of hoping that they'll make friends and help each other.0
