Boots threads

Its recently been decided that rather than one boots thread we should now have a thread for each bargain or glitch that has been discovered, im guessing the reason for this was due to all the chat that was on the last few threads which had got to ridiculus proportions making it hard to find the specific bargains hidden with all the "fab shop" and "thanks for this" posts.
its now really difficult to know firstly where we should be posting these, grabbit or shop but dont drop, but also the chat is just as bad but spread over multiple threads making it even harder to keep track of them all.
Is there no other way that we could have them all in one thread, or at least one on board ? maybe a sub-board ??
the fighting and bickering/point scoring is ruining it for all of us aswell

I'd love to have a thread where we can post our bargains and glitches(well other people can post theres and I can read about them!) and discuss them, does anyone actually have to need to run it, are we not able to be mature enough to 'police' a thread ourselves, without any pointless bickering?0

:eek:Haven't you been following the thread:p
The chat was never the problem imo, the bickering was in fact what got it closed in the end. I'm not sure why CPG's thread can't be re-instated so everyone can pick up where they left offIf people stopped complaining about trivial things such as chat, maybe the abuse team would have had more time to deal with the idiots who came along every now and then with the intent of ruining it for everyone else.
The thread ran smoothly the majority of the time, and judging by the amount of views it got was very popular and indeed many people joined MSE specifically to post on that thread. Thats why I think its such a loss, not only to us Bootsers but also to MSE.:starmod:C'est la vie:starmod:0 -

The person who ran the boots thread (Crazyposhgal) didn't "police" the thread, she created and updated the first few posts which usually contained a summary of all the updated info about the latest offers and glitches. But I don't think its neccessary to have anyone do that anymore, people just need to be prepared to read the thread in order to find the glitches. MSEAndrea for example could just start a thread and peeps could get back to posting like before.
I also think the issue of chat in the grabbit forum could be solved by moving the boots thread to the "shop but don't drop board", where chatting about bargains and glitches is less of an issue.:starmod:C'est la vie:starmod:0 -

I meant 'police' as in control ourselves, as in not posting any nastiness or bickering-not that we need any individual(s) to actually 'police' us iyswim0 -

I would rather see Boots bargains all posted together on one thread, for many reasons.
It makes it easier for all forum users if they are all in one place.
It is time consuming to post things seperately and also to trawl through a fast moving forum to find individual deals. Many people complained they were unable to find deals in a single thread (not only because of chatting but just because the thread generally moved quickly), finding them scattered around the whole board would be well nigh impossible. Posting a whole days worth of Boots deals singly could very well monopolise the whole of Grabbit, this is not fair on people who are looking for non-Boots deals.
Many deals are very short lived and wouldn't warrant a seperate thread, just a quick heads up in a current thread is all that is necessary.
The same Q&A's are relevant to many Boots deals, if deals were posted seperately this would dramatically increase those questions being repeated in every seperate thread. It's much easier for people to be referred back a few pages in one thread to find the answers, rather than the same answers being posted over and over in seperate threads.
While it isn't MSE's responsibility to babysit the forums I think it's important that they recognise there has been a huge underlying problem lately that isn't being fully addressed. There seems to be a handful of posters who are skilled in causing upset in a Machiavellian, passive aggressive manner; when challenged by other posters they loudly proclaim with an innocent air that they are being misinterpreted or bullied, on the surface this can be very convincing to anyone who doesn't regularly follow the thread.
It needs to be stopped, the Boots thread is for everyone on MSE, there is no room for any out of control egos trying to seek attention. That seems to be what is upsetting everyone, people feel that their objections to this are not being heard, some are resorting to AE's to get their point across, others have simply abandoned the site. While we can all be calm and moderate it only takes one person who is hellbent on attention seeking and the whole place is turned upside down, to everyone's dismay.
The current Boots thread over on Shop Don't Drop started by Need A Break seems to be going fine at the moment, everyone is getting on with the business of posting their finds and there is no squabbling. I hope it is allowed to remain that way and if the disruptive handful do dare to put in an appearance there that MSE will do something about it once and for all, instead of ignoring what is at the root of the problem.

totally agree - I have seen the same people/person:rolleyes: continually cause trouble on the Grabbit thread and nothing is ever done about them. Sandra's 'olay ole thread' was another prime example of how one person can deliberatley set out to 'rock the boat'- it gets a bit boring for all those people, who just genuinely, want to post and read about boots bargains.0 -
I dont think its quite as one sided as people believe, especially as a lot of threads get butchered by abuse and reading it after the fact it all seems like 1 or 2 posters are attacking when in fact it has been defence. (IMHO) but that has no bearing on the thread, I dont understand why the persistant abusers aren't banned (ALL of them) from the thread.
Lets hope the new thread continues, although i doubt it will last !Bow Ties ARE cool "Just because you are offended, doesnt mean you are right" Ricky Gervais0 -

Well said , you are completely right there are two sides hell bent on getting one over each other and they are spoiling it for everyone, unfortunately the thread i started has been closed, for what reason i know not, so looks like we are gonna have to post deals seperately.
If it helps anyone, if i post a deal that you want more info about you can pm me, thanks folks
