I keep meaning to look for a recipe for mango chutney because I love it and with Aldi doing them for 29p atm, now's the ideal time. Mind you, I think the offer ends at the end of this month, so there are only a few days left to get them.
I'll have a quick google for recipes now while I remember!0 -
The ingredients on my Sharwoods mango chutney are:
Sugar, mangoes (41%), salt, acetic acid, spices.
I came across this recipe which looks pretty similar although obviously just putting the word "spices" on the Sharwoods label means that the spices in this recipe may or may not be the same!
This recipe looks ok too and is a bit more detailed than the previous one. Also, this one says it will keep unopened for 12 months.0 -

And i'm still up! Totally not planned!
Let me know if you make it, there was a nice simple recipe in there
This one!Mango Chutney
1Kg Mangoes diced
50g fresh root ginger, cut into julienne strips
50g medium strength red chili, seeds removed cut into a fine julienne
250 ml cider vinegar
200g golden caster sugar
place all the ingredients in a pan and bring to the boil. Simmer for one hour, then pour into sterilised jars and seal. Store in a cool place for up to one year.
1k does seem a lot so you could always try with half quantity?!A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men

CostCo, if you are a member, does huge tubs of Geetas (tasty) for about £2. So same sort of price but it lasts for ages.0

I like the sweet mango chutneys, the mild not spicy ones (even though I love spicy foods generally).
Has anyone tried the recipes in this thread?0 -
I was just wondering if anyone has any experience of freezing HM mango chutney? It's a smooth one, so I think it should be alright but I'm not 100% sure! I made it last night and had way more than I had jars. Until I found a hidden stash this morning :mad:0
