The shop called "savers" what a joke!

Simply ring savers and ask to see the hidden camera footage from above the till or maybe the other 2-3 that are small and dark domes that will show money from the customers pocket to the till
I knew someone who installed them for savers.
They'll probably say the cameras were not working on that particular day.
Call me Mr Cynic but I got a similar response when complaining to Scottish Power about a sales call I had received, which would ordinarily have been recorded but the machine just happened to be broken at that time!:rotfl:0 -
There are criminal gangs where one person alone can make over £1,000 per week targeting young staff working shop tills.They mainly work in pairs with a well planned conversation to confuse the shop worker.One person caught recently was on average hitting 15-25 stores a day making at least £10 a time.0

sometimes its a matter of pressing the wrong button on till.
its happened to me before... when serving so many in a short space of time the 1 glance @ the note sometimes means u mistake it for another.
it happens. however ur daughter coulda lost it at any point seen as tho her own mate said 'i think u gave £10'.
but whatever, its gone.0 -
People make mistakes
Till workers as well as cutomers. For the sake of £10 is it really worth kicking up a fuss?
in future , "check your change" easy! no need to rant because you made an error!and it really isnt anyone else's fault.0 -

I agree. The world is populated by humans, not machines, and we all make mistakes. It's a fact of life.What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0 -
Having read all the responses here it occurrs to me that even if a check had been made at the end of the day, the till may not have shown a £10 excess.
The OP says that her daughter was given a receipt that she tendered £1 for a £1 item and no change was due. The daughter then received £9 change. This would make the till £9 under. The cashier could then have pocketed the £10 from the daughter's change, leaving the till correct (£10 to till/£10 to cashier).
If the cashier was honest, the till would show a £10 excess, if not then till would show as correct.
Sounds like cashier was using distraction techniques and has done this before.
If OP's daughter is is positive that she handed over £20, then yes, I think it is worth kicking up a fuss. She should contact the head office and ask for this to be investigated, they can then obtain the CCTV footage from the branch to check exactly what happened. As this would be a suspicion of theft by an employee they would have to take the matter seriously.Jeff Wayne's War of the Worlds Live is AWESOME!!2009 Sealed Pot Challenge Banked £100Comp wins: Shearer Candles (£43)Depressed, dieting, binge-eater with gastric bypass. Hi,
Spin this one on the head: What if your daughter got home and realised she had received TOO MUCH change? Would she have taken the trouble to go back to the shop to give them their money back?
Most people would keep it and put it down to good fortune, if not slightly dishonestProfit=sanity
Turnover=vanity
Greed=inhumanity:dance:0 -
Just thought I would throw my opinion in Having worked in retail for 6 and a half years I can say that yes customers and staff both make mistakes and yes they can both be crooked! Even now after all my till training during a busy period on the till I can still short change or over change people (normally I spot it as soon as I've done it but not always!) When you are thinking about how big your queue is, what discounts have rung off the till (or if they haven't!) what money is being given and what change to give back it is easy to slip up! All tills work differently so it's not always as easy as just pressing one button or having pre-defined amounts on keys. Also yeah, staff do pocket money, very sad but true - always check your change before you close your hand around it would be my advise! I also remember I worked in a shop where tills were shared by staff with no cameras pointed at the till, I was serving a customer and there were no staff or customers around, I gave her £7 change (two £1 coins and a five pound note) she blatantly put the note into her back pocket then said I didn't give her it, just the coins. Usual procedure was followed with my manager cashing up the till, the till was £2 down so he gave her the £5 because all staff had used the till we couldn't be sure but I know she had it! She even pretended to be helpful by empying her pockets - all except her back one! I felt like going up to her and just grabbing it out of her back pocket! Fun times!Would you destroy something perfect in order to make it beautiful?0
