MSE loses claims to impartiality. Pah.

I think MSE Guy works for the Daily Express or Daily Mail. His headlines are so sensationalist.0

Or is it Dan/chucky, moonlighting? Either way, repeating unsubstantiated rumours put about by vested interest groups is not what a supposedly impartial site should do.
What if someone buys a house on the strength of this recommendation from Martin and house prices fall, and they lose out big time?
Could they sue Martin?
Certainly very irresponsible reporting.
MSE news should restrict itself to posting fact not fantasy.0 -

Those "official staff" threads annoy the F*** out of me to be honest... it's like a Big Brother control thing ... steering Martin's PR ship around to optimise his opportunities and profile. Can't blame him really, it's his site and it does drive his profile skywards with the sort of people that watch the programmes he's in. His main income is in being interviewed/being on the telly - and this is his advertising vehicle.
As such, after statistical analysis, people would need to be assigned to raise the organic search positions within targetted/key areas, dependent upon the needs/direction of the business this week/month.
Well, if that's not what they're doing then that's what they should be doing - and hiring me to tell them what/why. To be honest.0 -

Obviously, that was rhetorical.
But Martin makes great play of his site's impartiality. That's its USP.
'News' like this just throws that whole image out of the window, and diminishes the message and impact of the whole site.0 -
And you are experts? .........why exactly?Vuja De - the feeling you'll be here later0

But what about the house prices crashing news feeds.
Surely a news feed is a news feed regardless as far as I am aware the site is not supporting HPI.
The crash could be over, for sure price will not fall more this year than they did last year.0 -
If it had reported this month's rise, I'd have no problem with it. I have a problem with the title 'crash is over' - that is pure fantasy.
As we all know - well, maybe pelirocco, as a newbie round here is unaware - house prices rose on a monthly basis frequently during the crash of the early 90's. The general direction, however, was clearly down.
Annualised prices are still well down.
It is far too soon to call an end to the crash. It's possible - though highly unlikely - that that could turn out to be true. But a site like MSE giving weight to it as 'news' is deeply irresponsible - it has no weight and the wishful thinking of a mortgage lender - that they might do a little bit better next year than last year - does not constitute evidence.0 -

I'm afraid what you're saying here is a bit on the ridiculous side.
How is it irresponsible reporting? MSE reports a person has said X. By all accounts, said person did say X. Other media outlets report similar claims of X, though some report claims of Y.
The article doesn't state "MSE says to all buy now or it is too late!!!"
They have reported fact. The guy said it. We are now able to comment on it. My chosen way to do so would be to examine the premises on which his conclusion is based, to examine the validity and logic to his argument. Not throw my toys out the pram because a media outlet I frequent reports something I don't necessarily want to hear. It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0
