  • Nice pubs in Portland
    The Electric Palace
    Fishing
    Squash Courts

    If you make it a boring place and you have no intention of doing anything about it then I would keep it shut.

    Don't tell me - Your one of those people that sit there and say everyone moans about everything and then does nothing about it???

    I went to a pub on Portland about 3 weeks ago and have to say it was the worst food I'd ever eaten, and £2.80 for a 250ml Appletise....

    Does Dunstable?

    :confused::confused:

    My apologies to anyone in Dunstable, I'm just trying to prove a point that people in Dorset are very very proud of God's back garden

    As someone who was born in Dunstable and brought up in Dorset I know which one I prefer - the clue is I still live in Dorset. The rolling hills of Dunstable Downs and the forest around Ashridge are quite nice though.
    loose does not rhyme with choose but lose does and is the word you meant to write.

    As one of the pesky tourists from Australia, we loved Dorset on our two past visits and will back in two years time with the kids - greatly looking forward to spending another week there. In particular, great fans of the Great Dorset Steam Fair which is the largest and most magnificent event of its type in the world. We didn't meet anyone but lovely people who were only too happy to help us or draw maps for us or just sit and chat - no unhappy tourist stories to report whatsoever.

  • hi im glad that i have found this thread,me and the hubby are going down to dorset for our first time for 4 days in sep this year (maybe with a chance to move there in the near future) we are staying a few miles away from poole harbour and we would appreciate anyone that can give us some hints and tips of what to do whilst (or not do)there. i have mobility problems so it would have to be the more gentler things, kind regards if you reply.

    Poole Shopmobility does days out, where they take a lorry full of wheelchairs to various venues to hire out for the day if that helps.

    Poole is excellent - The town centre is flat and has some fascinating shops.
  • excellent is there any recommendations for evening time? eating out etc
