i suggest picking up a dvd/hdd recorder, with inbuilt freeview, i have and it works great.
i also have ps3 for dvds, internet and games
it all depends on what you want, and if you play games.
ps3 is only better than blue ray player if you're gonna utilise the other functions of the ps3 (which i do)0 -

Interesting comment. Thats a 'fact' is it? And in what way is not as good?:idea:0 -
I would say Play TV is as good as my Humax box, but only with addition of the BD remote for the PS3.
One downside is no LCD panel on the PS3.0 -

No, it's an opinion...am I not allowed one of those?
Last time I checked the PS3 was lacking a couple of Freeview+ bits an bobs, series link and the like - this may have been fixed since, who knows.
When it was new out I also read a fair few articles listing its' demerits relative to the humax and sky+...You can google yourself if you're that bothered.
Anyway, in my experience, a spade is better at being a spade than a blender with a spade stuck on.0 -

Everyones entitled to an opinion. I asked because the PS3 is an AWESOME piece of kit for the money. People say its not as good a bluray player now but the way I have it connected id like to test that theory.
As for the recording ~ they do update the firmware a LOT and ive never heard anyone yet say the 'recording' quality is bad (The 'image' quality of tv yes, but then thats aerial and area specific):idea:0 -
no you cant transfer them to a pen drive, you cant transfer them to anything. at least i havent found a way yet.
Yes you can.... copy the film etc to the XMB then transfer to pen drive, i've done it loads of times & watched films on my PC monitor...........
What if the Hokey Pokey really is what it's all about !!!0 -
