Ok I apologise in advance for not Reading everything .... But straight away I noticed two things.... One u didn't reply to the person from eon who wrote here .... Maybe you did by pm though but if so and I totally understand it is private but maybe you shouldve stated something like have replied to this message via pm ( seeing as how you like to publicly decry them) secondly if you really wanted to be seen to make an effort you couldve sold your vouchers and paid something towards your eon making an effort is important ... It does strike me though that to you your garden is more important than paying for what you have already had .... Something to maybe think about
  • Hi Elantan, I have replied to Eon by letter and phone calls so I am not running away from or ignoring my debt to them. Despite my regular contact with them, Eon have passed my debt on to UDS, their own internal collection department. They have now referred the matter back to Eon as they realise I am trying the best I can to keep things ticking over. I have also received help from the CCCS, who have been great and fully support my conduct so far.

I feel totally justified in spending vouchers on my garden...after all, it is my garden (mortgage 100% up-to-date by the way ) and it provides some relief from the worry of trying to pay my debts and keep a roof over my and my partner's heads. My partner has been unemployed for 22 months, receives no benefit or income whatsoever, does voluntary work for the British Red Cross and has applied for hundreds... yes, thats hundreds of jobs but to no avail.

I thought this forum was non-judgemental but I assume you haven't read that bit either...

BTW, do you work for Eon?

ok am home now (was on iphone before ) so can answer more fully ...

i just know that if it was me and i had the amount of hassel you are saying you have had i would try my dambdest to pay the debt off as quickly as possible to get them out of my face and put it down to a lesson learned ..i do accept not everyone feels like this though and that is a good thing ...

maybe the pressure of it all doesnt affect you the same way it does others ...maybe you feel you shouldnt pay the bill ...i dont know ...it is not for me to say ...i do know that you have enough on your plate to be dealing with without the added pressure of dca's so if it meant selling a few things on ebay and going without or going to freecycle for you garden stuff in order to pay a bill then it would be worth investigating ..

your choice at the end of the day
  • Hi Chris,

I've been reading your diary and it sounds like you are a fantastic partner especially when things are not going well at the moment.

Even people in debt should be allowed some sort of relief every now and again and improvements in the garden will increase the value of your house if you ever came to sell in the future.

I'm just starting to get things together and pay off my debt but i know that if i'm not allowed a new book or magazine every now and again i will eventually go off the rails and spend more than i should.

I've got everything crossed for your partner and for anyone else looking for a job at the moment - i've never appreciated my job more!

:hello: Hey hun just thought I'd pop my head in and say hello.

I totally agree with needing to buy a magazine or a book once in a while. These are things I'm going to find really hard to give up, although I've got subscription to zest which is still running for a couple of months, and I bought some books from tesco a couple of weeks ago (pre LBM) So I have things to keep me busy. Atleast coming on here doesn't cost anything!!!

    Keep smiling
  • Thank You Sortingitout1980 and missymoo81, I think that little cheap treats and going on here helps you realise that you are not the only one struggling and helps keep you focused on the "big one" i.e. getting debt free and more financially astute. I now get lots of good books from charity shops and also use my local library regularly...just have to remember to take them back !:rotfl:

Thanks for kind words re. OH and her job intervew tomorrow. She is a bit nervious to say the least but I have faith in her and hope that her talent, experience and skill will shine through.

If she gets the job tomorrow then it's virtual beers all round !

Will keep you updated, bye for now.:hello:

Hopefuly, this may be the chink of light that we both need to get our lives back on track.

Off to bed soon as I've also got a job interview with my current employer for a possible promotion  tomorrow !!!

    Bye for now :hello:

  • Great news ChrisBlue and I really hope this is the start of good things for you both.

You know, I raised my eyebrows at you NOT selling the vouchers on ebay for all the reasons already stated. This isn't because I'm being judgemental, harsh or lacking in understanding, but because to me it would have been like divine intervention to rescue me from the immediate black hole that were the phone calls chasing me etc.

I guess when you write on this site you have people responding in all sorts of ways and that includes people that may challenge your choices, but by sharing you can confirm your own decision or reconsider. Also, there are 100's of people who follow each thread so whilst input may not be helpful to you, your thread and the responses could be helping dozens of readers yet too scared or overwhelmed to feel able to post.

Very, very many congratulations on todays news and know there will be many people who read this thread who will personally be wishing you well for tomorrow.
