  • Some absollutely brilliant news...OH applied for job on Wednesday, went for interview Wednesday afternoon, sat an assessment on Thursday and was phoned this morning to say she can start work on Monday!!!! :T:T:T:T:T

Needless to say we are off out tonight for a modest meal and a drink. She has applied for countless jobs since June and to her credit, has now got one. The salary is not earth-shattering but it's only 5 miles from where we live and we can have "a life" again instead of literally counting every penny.

We won't be millionaires but we don't want to be..we just want to be able to start living instead of existing. (Large weight lifted off shoulders...)

Update: OH now working for another company as she got a second job offer with a significantly higher salary, which she accepted (boss at first company was erm, "strange"). She is able to get to work by train, which is cheaper than using the car, so money saved there too.

Hopefully, this will allow us to get back on our feet but it only goes to show that it doesn't take much to "upset the apple cart" and it may take at least six months for us to get back to where we were at the end of May, when we were just starting to see some "daylight". :).

Good to hear that your wife has another job and that it will make your life a little easier! Just goes to show that you never know what is around the corner.

Hope that everything is well with you

  • Have moved three more DDs to new Yorkshire Building Society Cash Transactor account, which will be purely for bills - no debit card! :) All of them should be moved by December.

Once all bills moved to YBS account, will close Lloyds TSB Cash account.

My Co-op Cashminder account will be for personal spending only, keeping bills and spending money totally separate....well, that's plan anyway :rotfl:.

  • Well, it's the end of October, all bills on the monthly schedule have been paid . Remaining bills due before payday are on YBS account and money on its way there from Lloyds TSB account by so-called Faster Payment - :rotfl:.

Budget is holding up well and on target :T.

...not being in "constant panic mode" is scary!...

Got paid yesterday and the good news is that I came in under budget last month with a modest positive balance of £13.29 :T. I achieved this by being really careful with my petrol spending.

The main thing is that the monthly budget is now stable and workable and that this good work needs to be continued into 2013.

Have moved three more bills to YBS account today, with only car insurance and TV licence to do...

    Onward and upward! :)

Today, I opened an online savings account with the Principality Building Society, an online eSaver account.

The good thing about the account is that it can be "split" into virtual "savings pots" even though the money stays in a single account.

I'll primarily use the account for budgeting and saving for car maintenance (MoT & service) , Christmas 2013 / birthdays and hopefully a holiday in 2013 :).

  • To follow on from yesterday, I've now totally re-vamped my monthly Budget spreadsheet to allow for above "Piggybanking" from next month for Car Maintenance ; Opticians, Dental & Medicines ; House & DIY ; Christmas 2013 & Birthdays and .....a Holiday / Weekend Break (yeah right!..:rotfl:).

Hopefully, the above will stop some bills / expenses "creeping up" on me throughout 2013.

Hiya wondering how this is working out for you but do you need to open a current account also with them to get the savings accounts have had a quick look around their site but stated savings account linked from main account or something,

this is something i would like to look into as im getting so confused with having all the money in one sole account rather have little pots to add to and see grow as such and then clearly see the credits and debits

cheers and keep on the right path, looks like you have it sussed with this budgeting lark.lol

    good luck

    cheers maz

  • Hi Maz

No, as far as I am aware, you can just open a eSaver account with them online.

Have a look on their website & / or give them a ring :)
