Never attribute to conspiracy that which can be explained by incompetence.
Multipack items will have different product codes to the single items. It will not always occur to whomsoever is pricing items that there maybe inconsistencies between the single items and the multipacks. Bearing in mind how many thousands or tens of thousands of product lines Tesco has, it would be surprising if this sort of thing didn't happen from time to time.0 -
Agreed.
Such things are a stealth tax on people who are not very good at maths.
Or who are shopping in a rush.
Or who can't be bothered
Good.
Latest amusement was buying a 1kg pack of cereal at sainsburys, with a banner saying "Bigger pack, better value"
It was exactly the same per 100g as the 750g pack!0 -

It's a mix and match- if you mixed it with another drink worth over 90p you would get the money off. If you just get 2 Irn Bru- no saving.0

I know what you're saying, but pricing is planned by people in verticals in head office, not by a PFY on the pricegun in the local branch. I really do think supermarkets know exactly what they are doing with this stuff. Keep in mind these are the companies who spend money on planning the "flow" of a store to determine the best location to place all the staples so that you have to walk past all the luxury/impulse buys to pick them up. And this isn't a crime either, lets face it, making money is allowed! If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything0
