Tesco aaaaargh!!!

What is it about Tesco, are all the customers supposed to be stupid?

An Amadeus Healthy Eating Cow Cup, with easy grip handles and snap on lid, price individually £2.04 or...........buy 2 for £5.00!!!!*** I appreciate it is part of a wider 'buy 2 for £5" offer on baby drinking cups (some of which are individually priced over £3 each) but nevertheless that's just daft.

Also, a Lloyd Grossman Italian cooking sauce at £2.06 for a family size jar containing 660gr, OR I can buy the same sauce in 350gr jars priced at £1 each. Another 'no brainer', get more contents (700gr) yet pay less money (£2).

I wish they'd stop treating their shoppers like morons. This isn't the first ridiculous pricing I've seen in my local store.

I often find that buying 2 smaller jars/packs can be cheaper than 1 larger . Always check the labels and £ per ml on drinks for instance 2 x 6 packs pepsi can often be cheaper than 1 x 12 pack.

AND.. the Loyd Grosman sauces have shrunk - they were 425grams - which is even more annoying!

Not Tesco's fault, obviously, but still irritating.

As you pointed out this is part of a wider offer with some products priced over £3 each. Why is it bad to allow you to combine these products for the offer? You aren't forced to buy it? Or would you rather they just increased the price of the cup at £2.04 to over £3 just to satisfy the offer for you?

Sometimes buying in bulk isn't always the cheapest as you have pointed out. It depends on customer demand. We sell a lot more of the 350g jars than the 660g jars (and not just because of this pricing) so it can be argued that its cheaper to produce the 350g jars.

I love how by putting an offer in store Tesco are treating customers like morons.

Tesco is a very large company that has over the years developed sophisticated marketing techniques. Through club cards and other surveys they know that the majority of their customers are not astute enough to notice things like this.

    Agreed.

Such things are a stealth tax on people who are not very good at maths.

Or who are shopping in a rush.

Or who have screaming badly behaved children with them who take their attention away.

Or who can't be bothered or are unable to read small print on shelf labels.

A HELL of a lot of Tesco customers fit into one or more of those stereotypes.

Not sure if its still on:
0.75L bottle of water, 60p each
    Two of them for £1.60!

Then saw some chav (sorry, don'twant to offend but no other way to describe them as perfectly) who spotted the bottles, and picked up a few pairs, commenting on "thats a deal, its in yellow on the label!"

Maybe Tescos aren't as stupid as they make out...
